Being a theological Christian is especially important. As Christians we are
instructed to delve into the Holy Bible and to expand our knowledge on
the writings found inside. The more we do this the more we start to
exhibit what a Christian is supposed to look like. Unfortunately, religion,
and Christianity, have fallen to the wayside in people’s lives, and the
statistics resemble this fact. The ones that call themselves Christians have
this idea that by going to church every Sunday that they are being a good
Christian. However, without growing our knowledge in the Bible we are
simply just for show Christians.
When discussing this Kevin J. Vanhoozer and Owen Strachan concluded,
“Theology is in exile and, as a result, the knowledge of God is in ecclesial
eclipse.” (Vanhoozer and Strachan, 2015, 1). When people do not focus on
God evil starts to take over, and it is easy to see that this is taking place
in the world. Rioting, political correctness, abortion, and crimes are all on
the rise. There is an uneasiness in the world, that is supposed to love one
another, but instead fear one another. Parents are afraid to be around
their kids because they may catch a virus that is less deadly than the 5u
or common cold.
The problem with the world is that Christians have become relaxed in
their e6orts of evangelism, love, and hospitality. Christians have become
more engrained with their daily lives and have forgotten about God, but
God has not forgotten about them. They give excuses as to why they do
not read the Bible. When discussing this Rebecca McLaughlin concluded,
“Indeed, people often misunderstood Jesus because they took him
literally.” (McLaughlin, 2019, 96). They excuse the fact that they do not
read because they can not understand what the Bible is saying. They
disregard the fact that there are surpluses of Bible study aides,
commentaries, and di6erent versions of the Bible that has made the
words easier to understand inside the Bible.
Unfortunately, if Christians, and people, do not start turning to the Bible
the world is going to keep getting more and more dangerous. So, it is
important that Christians educate themselves with biblical theology to
understand the Bible better, and to live the life a Christian is supposed to
live as the Bible tells us to. If people keep failing at this, eventually the
church will become a no-5y zone, and Jesus will simply keep being taught
as fairy tales instead of truth and actual events surrounding His life. His
goodness will fade in society, even though He can never fade because He
is God, but He will disappear, and society will have lawlessness. Then one
day when they Jesus comes back, they will be in disbelief and answering
for their ignorance and sins.
