OVERVIEW
The mid term essay provides an opportunity to demonstrate awareness of key biblical and
theological concepts considered in the reading and study during the first four modules. An
assessment such as this serves as a half-way point between ‘in class’ timed essays (where the
student faces time pressure and lack of sources) and a full research paper (where the arguments
of the course texts might be only slightly considered). Because you are using the course texts and
outside resources, expectations of content are obviously higher than an ‘in class’ essay. But they
are lower than a full research paper, both in time and resources used.
