Biblical Worldview Essay
The bible shows that the God is the creator of all things, therefore he is the ultimate
engineer of our world. This belief has the most validity than any other understanding of how the
world was created. I chose to become an engineer, because of my love of understanding how
things work and how they are developed. More specifically, I chose industrial and systems
engineering which allows for optimization of companies’ money and utilization of machines, and
other things. I like the fact that engineering is what God did when he created the world, and this
is why he is regarded as the ultimate engineer. God has shown us how we are to interact with the
rest of his creation, but it can be hard to determine how to do it in a specific vocation of choice.
The doctrine of the creation of the world is something that has been disputed over of a
very long time. Some try to explain it with science and others try to disclaim this. The people
using science normally base their understanding on Darwinism, supporting evolution. The
people opposing it are stating that the information is not sufficient enough to explain every part
of creation, and it can only be explained by saying that there is a divine source. The text
Introducing Christian Doctrine states that a couple of intelligent design scholars said that
Darwinism is inadequate and contend that they are not arguing for a creator, just pointing out the
discrepancies (Erickson, 1992). God is the creator and sustainer of everything, Nehemiah 9:6
declares that God has made the heavens, earth, sea, and all that dwells in them, and he preserves
them all. His creation is complex and amazing therefore he deserves all our praise. The Doctrine
of Creation says that “the intricate design and delicate balance of creation is so complex that
humans will never fully comprehend it—only the Creator himself can do so (2010).” The
creation is very important to understand to have the knowledge that we need to give credit to a
higher power. Creation is the Foundation states that creation is not just a religious doctrine, but
“it is the basis of all true science, of true Americanism, and of true Christianity (Morris, 1983).”
God is the foundation of everything and he needs to be regarded as such in every aspect of life.
There would be no science, or any subject, without him.
Just looking at engineering, generally it is described as designing, creating, and managing
—engineering is innovation. From this definition alone it can be compared to how God created
man and the world. His creation is what inspires man’s innovation, Romans 1:20 clearly explains
this. It states that his creation is clearly seen, being understood by things that are made. The
article titled, Design Found in Nature Inspire Innovation, states “The design features that God
programmed into natural systems enable their possessors to overcome the limitations imposed on
them by the very laws of nature…” (Tomkins, 2016). It is such an amazing thing to see how
things that we create and call new are representations of things God already created. Some
examples would be airplanes resembling birds and bumble bees, as well as Neural Networks
(something I have learned about in my chosen vocation) which are a close representation of the
human brain. Hebrews 11:3 states that by faith we can understand that the universe was created
by God’s word. Just being able to see his power in everyday things is wonderful, including
humans which are regarded as a good thing in God’s eyes, Genesis 1:31.
The bible allows us to see that everyone has a purpose and that needs to be respected.
Proverbs 16:9 verifies this because it says that man plans ways, but the Lord establishes his
steps. I have noticed that in the engineering department a lot of the student seem to think that
they are better than others, most likely not on purpose, but what needs to be understood is that
everyone is made in the image of God and everyone does not have to be and engineer/smart to be
a blessing to others.
The creation of the world, humans, the birds, fish, cattle, etc. are all done by God,
explained in Genesis 1:1-31. Other explanations of this occurrence do not incorporate every
aspect of the intricate details that we take for granted each day. This is the reason he is and will
always be the greatest engineer. From understanding that God created us we all should praise and
thank him for everything he as given unto us.
