Biblical worldview essay
THEO 201
God is the past, the present and the future. He was there since the creation. He showed
mercy and love in both the old and new testament in the cration, fall, redemption and the
restoration. His word was written by a bunch of authors, inspired by the Holy spirit years
ago.The Scripture presents one unified message on many doctrines such as mercy and love.
While the Bible has many human authors through which the text was written, there is one
divine author. This is clear by looking at its overall unity. There is not a humanly produced
book, wherein multiple authors have contributed over a long span of time, that contains the unity
that scripture contains. Not only does the Bible not contradict itself, it also presents a
progression of theology that could not have evolved from the imagination of men. If the Bible
was written by a man, it would contain things to justify homosexueal, killing and other materials
that do not bring glory to God.The Bible describes God as merciful Hebrew 4:16 "Let us
therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help
in time of need”. The way to interpret “God is merciful” is to look at the biblical story that
reveals God’s character through His actions. In the book of Genesis, after men first sin. God
kicked Adam and Eve out of the guardian of Eden, but even though he kicked them out of the
guardian. He still watched over them and took their offerings and was with them and their
childrens and the children of their children. God, is merciful to even the worst offenders, sinners,
and law-breakers. This means that even though He knows of our guilt, He doesn’t always issue
the punishment deserved. To elaborate, the verse in Romans 3:23- 24says “...all have sinned and
fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that
came by Christ Jesus.” We are all sinners and do not meet the standards of righteousness that
God intends us to have. But, through His mercy and grace He provided a way for our sins to be
forgiven through our acceptance of Christ Jesus—even though we don’t deserve it. Coupled with
grace (being given God’s free gift of forgiveness though we’ve done nothing to deserve it),
mercy is shown because He loves us and only asks that we accept His Son by faith. God sent his
only son so that whoever believes in Jesus may receive forgivenss, which shows the mercy of
Christ. The Bible is unified in redemption because we are all saved, no matter who you are or
which culture you can still receive forgiveness by choosing Christ. As Nikos Nissiotis says in his
article, “The unity of scripture and tradition”, “There is a general agreement today to speak of a
unity of the sources of revelation by bringing together Scripture and Tradition as two expressions
of one and the same thing, that is to say the events of God revealing Himself to His world in
Christ” (pg. 184). To sum up The Bible inspired a lot of authors to write other book s or even
made movies about redemption, but the message is still the same. Lastly, restoration. God the
Father sends Jesus as a man to redeem us through the cross, this was the first restoration. John
talks about the end of day in the book of revelation and the second coming of Christ. The Lord
will decent from the heaven and rule on earth. The world will be restore and sin will go away for
good. To sum up Psalm 103:8 says that “ The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger,
abounding in love.” Also, Luke 36:6 states, “be merciful just as your Father is merciful”. God
mercy shown mercy since the beginning of Genesis and still does at the end in revelation. As
belivers, its important that we can come to God knowning that he is merciful.
The Bible describes God as love in 1 John 4:8 “Whoever does not love does not know God,
because God is love?”. The way to interpret “God is love” is to look at the biblical story that
reveals God’s character through His actions. When looking at the entire Biblical narrative, we
see this part of God’s nature exercised in His creation of man and His desire to redeem man from
the fall. In the creation God created men, not only he created us but fashioned us after His own

image. By creating us to his own image, God shows us that he loves us and wants to have a
strong relationship with us. Secondly, After the fall God loved us beside our sinful nature. He
loved us enough that he was with Adam and his generation. Next, the Bible mention God love in
John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life”. This is call the redemption. God loves us so much that
he came into flesh and died for our sins so now our relationship with the father is restored. Now,
we can come to the father, ask forgviness for our sins and come clean to his face. This is the
greatest sign of His love.Lastly, by Jesus dying for our sins our relationship with the father was
restored. The phenomen is called restoration, because now we have a direct access to God.
To conclude, Love is not something He chooses to do or give. It is the very essence of
who He is. He doesn't just love-He is love (1 John 4:16). It motivates His every action, directs
His activities, and reflects His desires (1 John 4:10). Love is the greatest and purest essence of
God. Love is what makes God,God.
