BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW ESSAY
Description of the image of God
Being made in the image of God is introduced from the very beginning of the Bible. God
is perfect in all of his ways (Psalm 18:30). As believers we must cling to this foundational truth
that each and every human being is created by God in his perfect image. Creation in the image of
God is one of the most uplifting and soul quenching concepts that I believe Christianity contains.
When an individual understands that they are made in God’s image, it gives them innate value
and purpose for their life. It also attests to God’s character and who he is, but most importantly
how much he loves us. He took the time to make each of us individually and perfectly in his
likeness. God willed for it to be so he intricately created us and the world we live in order to
fulfill his will and bring him ultimate glory. In Genesis 1:26-27 it says, “Then God said, ‘Let Us
make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and
over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing
that creeps on the earth.’ When I graduate from Liberty University, I plan on working with
victims of human trafficking and child exploitation. As I work with these hurt and broken
people, it is essential that I understand how being made in the image of God gives them purpose
and worth. If I have a good Biblical understanding of this, I can show these individuals that their
life has a bigger purpose for the glory of God and that he is actively involved in their lives
everyday working around and through them. God created man in His own image, in the image of
God He created him; male and female He created them.” It is impossible to read this passage and
claim that a life is not important. The doctrine of this belief must be clearly and theologically
explained. It is critical as believers that we have a Christian view of humanity. It allows us to

understand that there is an eternal aspect to every soul God creates, this includes children in the
womb.
Statement of chosen vocation
My ideal job falls into the social worker category. I hope to work with the victims of
human trafficking and child exploitation. As I do this job it is essential that I preach the idea of
being made in God’s image to them day in and day out. I will be in constant contact and
involvement with people. Everyday, as I interact with people in my chosen vocation I can
portray the love and power of Christ that I see in my world and translate it to and it was good in
his sight. After enduring such tragedy, they need to know that they are still good in God’s sight
and that they have value since they were made in the image of God. According to Erickson,
“Every human is God’s creature made in God’s own image. God endowed each of us with the
powers of personality that make it possible for us to worship and serve him.” (Erickson 2001)
Their life has a meaning and purpose from God to bring him ultimate glory. As a Christian social
worker, I will be able to be a light in the life of others.
Implication of image of God for one's vocation
The biblical doctrine of being created in God’s image speaks especially to those who are
involved in sex trafficking today. As a Christian it is essential to understand that every life is
precious and has God given value. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that God works for the
good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” It is so important
for these victims to comprehend how actively God is involved in their lives and in the creation
around them so they know their inherent value as they were made in the image of God. and can
share that idea with those around them as well. As stated in the Romans passage above, God also
works for the good of those who love him. So even after all that these hurt and broken people

have been through God is still actively and divinely involved with every aspect of their lives.
Although sometimes it seems unfathomable, God’s love is real and true despite the past of any
individual. No sin committed can separate us from that love and redemption in Jesus Christ. And
for those who are victims of human trafficking and exploitation it is vital that I emphasize that
nothing done against them can make them too dirty for God’s redemption. Jesus’s death on the
cross and God’s glorious intervention in our lives ultimately proclaims his glory throughout our
lives and all of his creation. The enemy is convincing people that through pride and deception
that they are able to decide the fate of an unborn child’s life. Christian’s must understand that
life is important. God has spoken, and He has declared every life precious and purposeful for the
kingdom of God. We must stand firm in the truths of Scripture and in what we know is right in
the sight of the Lord before man.
It is evident that all life is made in the image of God and that He is the author and
perfecter of every single life. When we work in our profession, and in my case social work or for
a non-profit organization that helps those who have escaped a horrific life of exploitation and
trafficking, we must preach the gospel to ourselves daily and also to those around us. It is vital
that we stay close to the Lord and look deep into his Word each day to get an even better
understanding of how we are perfectly created in his image and how all of creation cries out to
His glory. Even if we failed to recognize God’s glory in creation, the Bible says the rocks would
cry out and proclaim his name. Luke 19:40, says “I tell you, he replied, ‘if they keep quiet the
stones will cry out.’” May we never forget God’s divine involvement in our lives and preach it to
everyone we meet day in and day out.
