Angels Exists
Angels are supernatural heavenly being created by God. The term angel derived from the
Greek word “angelos” and Hebrew “malak” which means messenger and is always used in a
masculine gender although sex in the human sense is never ascribe to them. Their power is
inconceivable (2Kgs. 19:35) but not omnipotent, their wisdom is extensive (2Sam. 14:20) but not
omniscient. Angels are great in number but not limitless and man is made a little lower than
them. Throughout scripture we can see their ministry and nature of work approximately 108
times on the Old Testament and 165 in New Testament. Confusion and uncertainty concerning
angels has arisen primarily from two sources. For instance, scripture never clearly delineates a
detailed description of angels and secondly, today generation has repudiated much of the
worthless conjectures of Middle Ages concerning angels.1 The Bible speaks of two kinds of
angels, the faithful angels referred to as “holy and elect angels” and the fallen angels known as
the devil angels-whom Satan(Lucifer) a heaven’s chief angel persuaded one-third of heaven’s
angels to side with him in his rebellion against God( Isa. 14:14). I will relate or generate more to
the holy angels existence and why they were created.
The question, “why do angels exist have plunder the minds of many people for decades.
The bible tells us that they were created by God before the creation of men. (Gen 2:1). They
were created to be God’s messenger or ambassador, belong to His heavenly court and services, to
praise Him, to do His will (Ps. 104:20), and in this activity they behold his face (Matt. 18:10), to
accompany God in his work of creation, to assist in God’s providential ordering affairs (Dan.

12:11),2 to worship God day and night( Isa. 6:3), to assist the people of God and observe the plan
of God (Eph. 3:10).3
Even though there are two kinds of angels good and evil angels; they were originally and
especially created by God to serve Him along with the universe and everything within it. In order
to adequately represent God, they were given strength and superior intelligence because God
requires all things be done decently and in order (1Cor.14:40), angels are a highly organized
company and they are described as “a multitude of heavenly host” (Luke 2:13).4 The fallen
angels(evil angels) described otherwise to oppose God and try to defeat His will and frustrate His
plans. These evil angels endeavor to separate believers from God (Rom.8:38). They hinder our
temporal and eternal welfare by a limited control over natural phenomena: (Job 1:12-13): by
inflicting diseases (Acts 10:38), by tempting us to sin (Jn. 13:27), and by spreading false doctrine
(1Kgs. 22:21). However, they cannot exercise over people any moral power independent of the
human will and whatever power they have is limited by the permissive will of God.5
There are numerous reasons why angels are significant to us today: 1) They play a
prominent role in scripture and much is said about them and their function. Their influence is not
restricted to any one time in history; we see them being involved in God’s work from Genesis to
Revelation. 2) Angels have an important function in the overall plan of God for humanity, thus it
is necessary for us to comprehend the extent of their involvement and how they related to us. 3)
If we study the complete plan of God, then the study of angels is vital. 4) They remind us of the
reality of the unseen world, it informs us that we are not the only beings in the universe and that

there are unseen forces both good and evil, that are surrounding us. 5) to clear up ignorance- a
study of the angels from scripture will clear up ignorance on the subject. Take for example, Are
these spirit-beings friendly or hostile? The bible is the last expert on all issues of faith and
practice, whatever it says regarding the matter of angels is the final word. In this way, we can
know for certain what angels’ identity is, and what they do, in light of the fact that we have an
authoritative source to take a gander at. 6) they encourage consistent living- realizing that angels
are observing us will encourage us to live more consistent lives. 7) Show us confident in God’s
protection. Ps. 91:1-12 tells us, “for He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in
all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, so that you will not dash your foot against a
stone.” Understanding that angels protect believers will comfort them in the time of trouble. 8)
We have their example of devoted service to God. Their continual service of the Lord should be a
challenge to us to behave in the same manner. They do the bidding continually, joyfully and with
unquestioned obedience; we should learn to do likewise.6
Here are some false views concerning angels: some say that angels do not actually exist
anymore than fairies do, or wood nymphs or water sprites, Islam say that angels are made of
light, some say that they were specifically religion figurines,7 since they are not mentioned in the
creation story in Genesis, thus, they are not real, Maimonides, a Jewish philosopher and
apologist contested there are 10 types of angels, other Jewish writers suggest angels only existed
for a specific task, then they vanished,8 and the modern rationalist claim the concept of angels is
either a fruit of ignorance, or remnants of crude religion or an altered type of polytheism.9

The bible deals with the issue of angel by showing us in various ways how God’s angels
communicate messages of God to His people and their powers to perform works for God that are
beyond the ability of humans. Acts 5:19 states, “But during the night an angel of the Lord opened
the doors of the jail and brought.” There was a violent earthquake, for the angel of the Lord came
down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it (Matt. 28.2). Jesus
shows us that He has in the past used angels to accomplish a number of tasks: they were involved
in delivering the revelation of the Word of God, He has sent angels to protect us, men have been
encouraged and motivated to greatness by them, God has used them both to free captured men
and to strengthen men in their service for God, and He has sent angels to execute His judgment.10
All in all, regardless of what age we are in, the principal obligation of angels will
constantly center around serving and offering due reverence to God. Since their creation, angels
have endlessly conveyed verbal praise and worship to God. This can be found in Isaiah 6:1-7 and
Revelation 4:4:6 in which, God gave us adequate knowledge into the nature of their worship
which is clearly His magnificent sacredness. Their service to the heavenly Father incorporates
different obligations going from consoling hurting saint to helping God in releasing worldwide
judgment upon humankind during the Tribulation time frame- a time unequaled by any other
event. Also, in Rev.7:1 we see another responsibility of the angels which may engulf
contemporary times. The angels are described as having control of nature: “and after these things
I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth,
that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.” In other words,
angels are actively involved in controlling the jet stream and possibly other aspects of nature.11
