BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW ESSAY
Biblical Worldview Essay
As an educator I will have many obstacles in my career which will require much faith on
my part to get through the tough times. As a Christian I have Christian beliefs which guide my
actions on a day to day basis. We Christian believe man was created in God’s image (Genesis
1:27 NIV). I believe this guides my views on the children I teach and the relationships which I
will build through my career. Knowing this teaching from our Lord I will mold my teaching
style of the basis of the Scripture.
Some Individuals have conflicting beliefs about children. Some believe children are born
neutral, while others believe children are influenced by their environment. We know from the
Scripture that all man is subject to a sinful nature no matter the age, resulting from sin entering
the world (Towns, 2007). We are still created in the image of our Creator. This means we all
have the choice to choose and we all know the difference between right and wrong. We also
cannot change our sinful nature by ourselves (Jeremiah 13:23) and we need Divine intervention.
I believe as being a Christian teacher I could be used by God in order to shape my students. In
order to do this I intend to live my life by the Scripture in every aspect of my life in order to be a
model for my students. We know children learn by watching the people around them and learn
even more by watching adults which are in their lives (McCullough, 2008). This knowledge is
referred to as the Model Theory (Schunk, 2016). By instilling values into my students they will
be able to carry Biblical values, unknowingly, throughout their life (Proverbs 22:6).

Even though we are all created in the image of God we are all unique in our own way
(Psalm 139). Knowing this my teaching style will have to be versatile depending on age, sex,
maturity, socioeconomic background, cultural diversity, and parental involvement (McCullough,
2008). Sin also is what separated us from God (Isaiah 59:2). We know everyone sins
individually and some sin more than others based our uniqueness and the choices we make (Etzel
& Gutierrez, 2012). Knowing this I will use motivation in order to educate and guide my
student’s from sinful behavior. There are two types of motivation which can be used. These two
types of motivation are intrinsic and extrinsic motivation (McCullough, 2008). Extrinsic
motivation is based on reward and consequences, while intrinsic motivation is based on
motivating students to participate in learning for enjoyment (McCullough, 2008). I plan on using
a combination of extrinsic and intrinsic motivation based on the age of the student. Some
students who are younger require extrinsic motivation in order to educate and guide them away
from sinful behavior. Older and more mature students will not respond from extrinsic motivation
and using this type of motivation will be detrimental to the student (McCullough, 2008). I plan
on using intrinsic motivation on older more mature students. By explaining to the students the
importance of activities, showing the benefits of activities, and showing how values affect us in a
positive way my students will thirst for knowledge and shy away from sin.
Knowing the Biblical truth will help me tremendously throughout my teaching career.
We are all created in God’s image, we are all unique, and we are all separated from God by our
sinful nature. While I will not be able to preach to my students about Christian beliefs teaching
in non Christian school systems, I can still instill Christian values into my students and teach
based on Christian teachings. I intend to guide my students away from sin and educate them to

the best of my ability. By living my life according to the scripture in every aspect of my life and
using specific teaching motivations based on age factors, I will be successful in my endeavors.
