A worldview is how one views the world we live in. A biblical worldview is how
we view the world through the teaching of the Bible. Everyone views the world
different, but the Bible tells us how we should view the world as Christians and how
we should live our lives for God. We first must read and understand the Bible and
the lessons it contains. By doing this we live our lives for God and view the world as
he wanted us to see it.
Understand Unity
God and the Bible are unified. The Bible has many authors, but only one
divine Author. The Bible contains more than 650 instances of “God said” or “the
Lord says”. This book is the written word of God. Practicing a religion can only take
you as far as what you know, but who do you turn to when you want to learn and
follow more than what you already know? The Bible and God. God expresses his
want to form a relationship with what he created. The Bible is God’s word and in
reading and understand His word we learn. We learn about religion, we learn about
God, about His word, about the world, and often times we learn about ourselves as
we read His words.
Studying theology and taking a theology course at a local university can
assist in understanding and learning about the Bible, God, and scriptures. We
already know that the Bible and God are unified, but how and where in the Bible
does it show us this unity. To understand we must first look toward core Christian
beliefs and the doctrine. What is a biblical doctrine though? Doctrine is defined as a
system of beliefs. Biblical doctrine is a set of accepted beliefs. As Christians we all
know that there is only one God. This is an example of a biblical accepted belief.
There are several passages in the Bible that back up this doctrine. “You are my

witnesses,” declares the Lord, “and my servant whom I have chosen, so that you
may know and believe me and understand that I am He. Before Me no God was
formed, nor will there be one after Me.” (Isaiah 43:10) “Now this is eternal life: that

We also know by reading the Bible that Salvation is a free gift of God.
“However, to the one who does not work but trusts God who justifies the ungodly,
their faith is credited as righteousness.” (Romans 4:5) “If we claim to be without sin,
we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful
and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” (John
1:8-9)
From understanding God’s word and the doctrine we can have a better
biblical worldview and follow Him. Reading and understanding the Bible is not easy
for everyone, but a learning process to all. Following God’s word is a little like a
class being taken at a college. At the beginning of the semester we are introduced
to the instructor and the course we are taking. Everyone is given a set of rules to
follow when writing a paper or completing an assignment. We are given load of
information to read, follow, study, and comprehend. We are tested on this new
information we learn from week to week until we reach the end of the semester. At
that time we look back at what we have learned and feel a bit wiser. Following God’s
word is similar. We are his students. We start reading the Bible as his naïve children
and learn as we go. We absorb the teachings he presents us and we learn about the
life He expects us to lead. At the end of each church service or passage reading we
look back at what we have learned and try to use that in our everyday life which is
exactly what God asks of us.
