BiblicalWorldviewEssay
When you live and conduct your life according to the BiblicalWorldview, you learn that
theGodyouworshipissovereignandallpowerful.“GodisSovereign,thatis,HeisTHEBOSS, period.
God is subject to no one--no one can tell God what to do or judge His actions.” (“4”)
SovereigntyisaconceptthatisunfamiliartomostAmericans.Americansarecommonlyfamiliar with a
dictator or another leader having “sovereign-like powers”, but it does not hold a candle to the
truedefinitionofasovereign. “Inhistory, asovereignwasaruler whohad absoluteauthority and who
had the right to that authority, usually by heredity or conquest, but even the true sovereigns of
history were only a pale reflection of the Sovereign Lord God.” (“4”)
An earthly sovereign can die from a sickness or killed, but as a follower of Christ, we are
confronted by the fact that our Sovereign is eternal and lives forever. “Omnipotence, which we
look at a few pages later, talks about God’s Power andAbility--Sovereignty expresses His
authority by right.” (“4”) We study the Omnipotence of God in depth in Isaiah 40 and in Job 38-
42, where we learn that God claims the right to rule on the bases of His creatorship of the world,
His solitariness, and His eternality because there is no one like Him. “There is no limit to His
might! Divine Sovereignty expresses God’s RIGHT to do whatever He pleases; Omnipotence
expresses HisABILITY.” (“4”) The fact remains is that God is all powerful and whatever he

therethatGodisallpowerful.“God’spoweroverthenationsoftheEarthisevident.ThoughGodused

has never been limited to Israel.” (Colley) God has authority over all of the world and frequently
had used them to accomplish His purposes. In Job 12:23, Job said: “Hemakes nations great and
destroys them.”
“It is important to realize that this is only in regards to the things that God wants you to
accomplish.” (Stratton) God is not waiting around to see what our president or another political
leaderaregoingtodoandheiscertainlynotsittingbytheTVwatchingthenewstoseethelatest political
developments are going because He is arranging the circumstances of the world to fit
HiswillandHispurposes.Ofcourse,Hedoesnotcausethesinfulactionsofpeople,butHedoes allow
them to happen because He does not control us like we are robots. “Just how He rules is
mysterious, but we know that He does it by intervention in history” (“4”)
In conclusion, God’s sovereignty and omnipotence should reassure us, because of His

impossible for Him! “Those who are not faithful to the Lord should be terror-stricken
byGod’somnipotence,because,intheDayofJudgment,theveryforcethatcreatedtheUniverse will
condemn them to an everlasting punishment.” (Colley) We get to serve a sovereign and powerful
God who always constant in our lives.
