BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW ESSAY
TIMOTHY BRIDGES
THEO 104 – D26
A Biblical World view is how we look at the world through the
lens of God’s word. In this essay I will address the 4 major plot
points in scripture Creation, Fall, Redemption, and New Creation
and how those four over arching plot points carry through the
entire bible through 66 books and 40 writers across a few
thousand years are glued together to become one story of God’s
love. “The Bible is God-breathed according to 2 Timothy 3:16. The
Greek term is theopneustos, and it means "inspired by God." The
significance of this understanding is seen in the idea that the
words of the Bible are not merely human words. The words that are
in the Bible are the very words of God.” (Etzel & Gutierrezp.37)
The biblical narrative – Creation, Fall, Redemption, and New
creation are the over arching plot points in the biblical
narrative 1st lets look at creation we all are created in the
image of God. Genesis 1:27 States “So God created man in his own
image, in the image of God created he him; male and female
created he them” He desires a personal relationship with every
one of us, and He seeks each of us out to have that relationship.
A couple examples of this relationship are Paul, he talks about
so many subjects about God's love toward mankind, to obtain peace
and tranquility and life through the blood of Jesus. Paul tells
us of how god has plan to go above bringing his people from
Israel, but to redeem all mankind.
The Bible Shows us Abraham was not justified by his own
actions, but by his faith. It was his faith, his heart, that
resulted in justification. Throughout the bible we see man and
the challenge, to find a solution that is not to simply be a
better person, and to submit to the will of god, and accept the
blood of Jesus by faith, reassuring that it is by faith that we
are saved (Romans 5:1). starting with in the beginning god
created heavens and earth (Genesis 1:1).
In Romans the bible talks about the natural world in a biblical
worldview, Romans 1:20 For since the creation of the world God's
invisible qualities-his eternal power and divine nature-have been
clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that
people are without excuse.
Topic 1 Covenants: The Bible also covers these plots through
his Covenants with Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, and the
New Testament First was God’s Covenant with Adam this covenant
is commonly referred to as the covenant of creation. God
THEO 104
promises to grant eternal life to Adam if he obeys the Creator
and refrains from eating the fruit of the forbidden tree. This
is proven to be the case from Romans 5:12–21, which says that
Jesus, is the last Adam, He secured eternal life for us by His
obedience. if the first Adam had obeyed, he and his
descendants would have never died,
God’s covenant with Noah Genesis 9:11 "I establish my
covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off
by the waters of a flood, and never again shall there be a
flood to destroy the earth." Here God Promises us that he will
never destroy the earth by flood again. Abrahamic
Covenant “Now the LORD said to Abram, Go from your country and
your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will
show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will
bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a
blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who
dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the
earth shall be blessed.” Next the Mosaic covenant The Ten
Commandments lay foundation of the covenant, but they are not
all of it.
After giving the first ten commands, the people asked the Lord
to speak no more (Exo. 20:18-20). Moses then drew near to the
presence of God to hear the rest of the covenant (Exo. 20:21).
After receiving the Law, Moses spoke the words of the covenant to
all the people, and the people agreed to obey (Exo. 24:4). Moses
then wrote the conditions of the covenant down, offered
sacrifices to God, and then sprinkled both the book and the
people with blood to seal the covenant (Exo. 24:8). This covenant
between God and the people of Israel was temporary—God promised a
day when He would make a new covenant, not only with Israel but
also with all mankind. "Behold, the days are coming, says the
Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel
and with the house of Judah—not according to the covenant that I
made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand
to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they
broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord. But this is
the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after
those days, says the Lord: I will put My law in their minds, and
write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall
be My people" (Jer. 31:31-34).
Lastly we have God’s covenant with David 2 Samuel 7:12-13 "When
your days are complete and you lie down with your fathers, I will
raise up your descendant after you, who will come forth from you,
and I will establish his kingdom. "He shall build a house for My
name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom forever.
THEO 104
We can see the 4 plot points in the bible through these
covenants with God 1. Adam - The fall of Man, Noah – God destroys
the world, and promises never to destroy the world by water. 2.
Moses mediates a covenant between God and the people to set up a
plan of redemption God continues this promise through David he
set a plan in motion for a new world by redemption through Jesus.
Love there are examples of Love all Over the Bible probably the
most commonly used is John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. (1 John 4:8KJV)
Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. (1
Corinthians 13:4-8 ESV) Love is patient and kind; love does not
envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on
its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not
rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears
all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all
things. Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away;
as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass
away. Boom (Mike Drop)
In Conclusion the Four Major Plot Points of the Bible Creation,
Fall, Redemption and New Creation. God’s Covenants’ with man lay
out a plan of salvation through Adam who fell by disobedience.
Abraham from whom all nations were created David through who’s
lineage Jesus was born and gave his life so all could come to the
Father through him. And through God’s love this was all laid out.
