Throughout life you will see and meet all types of people. There is such a huge variety of
people in this world. You might see that person at the grocery store and someone could be yelling
at them, but the other person says, “Have a blessed day”. You might ask the question, “What is
different about him?” or “Why did he not get angry back?” With that saying, we are going to go
deep in a few topics of someone with a biblical worldview and hopefully give you some insight
in case you ever need to know how to act in a certain situation.
One of the topics we are going to get into is prayer. Prayer is basically summarized as
talking to God. Someone might pray in a time of need, to thank God, or etc. The early church,
“especially in time of need whether the need be boldness to proclaim the gospel, the need for
church direction, or the need for God’s intervention in a church situation.”1 We see the
importance of prayer through the early church. Another great example is when Jesus prayed in
Gethsemane. Jesus went to Gethsemane with his disciples and He said to them, “Sit here, while I
go over there and pray.” (Matt 26:36b)2 As we go through the story, we see Jesus went and
prayed a total of three times. You might ask “Why did He go pray three different times?” Well as
it was done in the early church. Jesus is showing us the importance of prayer like the early
church did. He is showing that prayer pleases The Father and how important it is to draw near to
The Lord.
We can apply this to our lives is by actively seeking the Lord through prayer. “If my
people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from
their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land” (2
Chronicles 7:14). Just like the guy who did not do anything to the person in the store that yelled

at him. Pray for others and for you to act in properly in that situation and pray that God will
soften their heart.
Next, we are going to talk about love. This is not going to be the “love” we say about
everything. Like some people will say, “I love that team.” or “I love pizza.” We are going to talk
about the Greek word “agape”. Matthew Henry gives us a great definition of the word agape,
“love in its fullest and most extensive meaning, true love to God and man.”3 To put it in my
words it is an unconditional love. Jesus is a great example of showing the true definition of
“agape”. “Jesus was to be offered as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. Jesus wanted
to make sure His followers would always remember the significance of His work on the cross.”4
If we go to John 3:16, this a very well-known scripture, but here we see Jesus being sacrificed
for us. Jesus was an innocent man, but He was spitted on, mocked, beaten where He could barely
walk. You might ask, “Why did He take that punishment?” Or “Why did He not say He was
innocent?” He did it, because He loves us so much and it was to forgive all who have sinned and
everyone who will sin in the future. It was the ultimate sacrifice for a believer in Christ.
We need to love others, God tells us to love Him over everything and to love our
neighbors. (Mark 12:30-31) Like a quote I hear often “Love like Jesus did,” that is how we are
supposed to treat others, with love and compassion.
To conclude, we will meet new people every day like I stated above. It is your option on
how you treat others. Love and prayer are two key topics we must become accustom to if we
want to be a part of a biblical worldview. Go out and, love and pray like Jesus did.
