The word Theology makes me think of the study of Gods word, what he has promised
His devout followers and how it these beliefs effect a believer’s life. Gods word is a steady
foundation for those who choose to follow it, but what is more interesting is how it effects the
life of the believer. The theology of Christians and their lifestyles aligns with the word of God as
Christians are seeking the outcome that God has promised them. That outcome being an
everlasting life in heaven with God himself. But how is this all possible from a book that was
written so long ago? Theology is the answer to that question. It allows you to dig deeper and find
the root of the belief and why it has been carried on for centuries. Theology also allows the
Christian believer to have proof behind who they are and how they became to be that person
through their personal beliefs. The study of God will be never ending because humans will never
be all knowing; thus, Theology will continue as well.
I personally grew up in church where I was raised to believe in the word of God, therefor
the word “theology” was never exactly brought up to me, even though that is exactly what it was.
I was taught all the foundations of the Bible, where the world came from to what it has grown
into today. I have watched many changes over my own lifetime, and I believe that now more that
ever, this world needs the study of Theology. Theology allows you to have something to hold
onto, to believe it. The Bible is solid ground that has been around for centuries. Although you
will never fully know and understand the Bible, that is the beauty in Theology. Christians are
continually learning how to best represent God. How I choose to live my life and shine my light
upon others, is my way of using Theology to spread the word of God. If we uphold good works
of God, he promises to reward us with an everlasting life in eternity with Him. Theology is the
explanation of all these things and why they happen.
In this Theology course I hope to take away a new perspective on the reason Christians
believe in a book that was written so long ago and a God that has been “dead” for centuries. I
hope to be able to better relate the Bible to today’s society and understand how the word of God
still applies today. I also will strive to learn how the beliefs in Theology shape who I am as a
Christian and why that may look different than another Christians life. Through the next eight
weeks I look forward to reading my classmates opinions and views on each topic as we have
each had a different walk of life. These views will allow me to open my mind and have a better
understanding of why some Christian lives are led differently than others. Theology plays right
into Ethics and I just finished my first Ethics course, so I am excited to be taking this class
directly after. I am interested to learn how the two courses intertwine with one another. Finally, I
pray that God leads me and guides me through this course so that everything I learn may be
glorifying to Him.
