Worldview Research Paper
Many of us can agree that when we are asked what our worldviews are, our answers
could differ from person to person. The truth is that there are many factors that can affect our
views. Our textbook describes it as, “A worldview, whether Christian or secular, is the unifying
perspective from which we organize our thinking about life, death, art, science, faith, learning,
work, money, values, and morals. (Gutierrez and Weider, 58). In short, our worldview heavily
impacts our daily lives, and plays a vital role in our lives.

Biblical Worldview
It’s essential for Christians to fully understand what the Bible states the biblical
worldviews should be, since one’s worldview shapes every aspect of our lives. And the Bible is
the go-to source for many questions we might have about the world. Answers to questions
relating to our existence, to what our purpose is in this world, to what happens after we die, or
what is right and wrong. All these questions are valid, and the Bible gives us many explanations.
Let’s break down the answers to these questions, biblically.

The Question of Origin

The Christian belief is that God created the Universe, and all the planets within the solar
system. This conclusion is based on the answers that can be found in the first book of the bible,
Genesis. The first chapter talks about how God saw Earth as a dark, void place, and he decided
that he wanted to bring life to that planet. He went ahead and created the heavens and the Earth
he brought light into Earth and started forming life (Genesis 1:1-4). Genesis 1:26 is where God
specifically decided to create us, humans. We were created in his image to be on Earth and to
enjoy the abundance of what our planet has to offer us.

The Question of Identity
With this worldview, Christians see themselves as the children of God, disciples of Jesus,
and heir to God’s promise to them. (Galatians 3:14). They can understand who they are, and how
they identify themselves. God made us who we are so that we glorify him in our lives. We have
been given our identity so that God can be seen in us. (1 Peter 3:15). Ultimately, finding identity
in God defines the Christian believer’s values, principles, morals, and purposes in life.

The Question of Meaning/Purpose
When it comes to understanding what our purpose is in life, it’s a question many have, whether
they are people that believe in God or not. As humans, we always want to know the meaning and
purpose behind everything, we demand instant gratification and wanting to know the answers to
everything. God makes it very clear through scriptures that all that he does goes according to his
purpose and plans in our lives. We might not decipher what that purpose is, but God demands for
us to seek him so that we can do everything he already has planned for us (Exodus 2:10). God

also reminds his followers that they must understand the overall goal, eternal life in heaven.
Everything we do in this life will determine if we make it to heaven, where God has promised we
will live on forever more. Which in turn, gives Christians a meaning to why they follow God and
the purpose of their existence on Earth. (Colossians 3:2-17).

The Question or Morality
Morality addresses sin in the Christian’s life. Morals are provided to believers by God himself;
one of the most famous examples of this is seen in the ten commandments (Exodus 20:1-17). The
ten commandments are presented as a guideline of what is right and wrong. The Bible even states
that the desires of the flesh are against morality, and what’s right, which would prevent the
believer to be saved (Galatians 5:19-21). Morality is determined by God, for morality is the
reflection of his moral character to us.

The Question of Destiny
This topic is related to death and the afterlife, it explains what happens once we leave from this
world. Christians have a firm belief that those who believed in God and followed him will
receive eternal life (John 3:36). For those who chose not to follow God, it’s believed they spend
eternity in hell, which is considered the second death. (Revelation 21:8). This gives motivation to
Christians to serve God, since the end goal isn’t seen in this world.

After discussing all these questions and giving an explanation through a biblical
worldview perspective. Applying these biblical worldviews is essential with my walk with God.
My biblical worldview should influence me to do what God would want me to do, based on his
word. For example, how do I treat someone who holds different beliefs than me? The bible
reminds me that I must always accept others, just as Christ has accepted me. (Romans 5:17). All
of us were created by God in his image, therefore, if someone holds a different belie than me, I
should still respect the individual and accept them for who they are. There have been times
where it has been hard to get along with family members, due them being very unkind. John
13:34 is very clear on what is expected of me. I might not get along with that family member, but
I must still love them, just as God loves me; flaws and all.
