I applaud your efforts in suicide prevention, and this problem has become
so prevalent in every ethnicity. But unfortunately, so many people hide
behind these issues, and I am happy your passion is to shed some light on
this problem.
For so long, we have hidden behind the stigma of the terminology that she
is going to the “crazy house” when someone suffers from mental issues.
This was referenced by Kessler (2000), exposure to traumatic experiences
is high in Americans. Some traumatic experiences that are never dealt
with fester into more significant problems later. We have seen too many
times of suicide cases where no one knew the person had any issues. This
trend has got to stop.
From a biblical standpoint, everyone has their demons that they deal with.
For example, King David dealt with being the lesser of his father’s sons. As
well as incest in his family, David had a man killed for his wife. Among all
these issues, inadvertently, issues could make anyone have mental
problems, but with the help of God, David was able to repent and be
forgiven. The bible references, “For everyone has sinned; we all fall short
of God’s glorious standard” (Holy Bible, NLV, 1996, 2004, 2015). In
knowing that we do a forgiving God, we should be allowed to seek Him
and know that he will be with us during anything we face in our lives.
