I can honestly share in this battle that since the beginning of time, the
enemy's trick has been to disrupt the institution of marriage and family if
you can reflect on Adam and Eve and how they disobeyed God due to the
wiles of the devil. This occurred when Satan centered his attack on Cain
and Abel, a sibling rivalry that ended in jealousy. Even now, how the
media depicts the families is deceitful in that it normalizes wrongs and
gives people the green light to sin no matter how it undermines the
teachings of God.
With the family structure being attacked via the children, Satan can break
down the family by tugging at the heartstrings of the parents. It is not
feasible for us to continue to allow the word to supersede the teachings of
our Heavenly father. Being divorced and a single parent, I have made a
conscious effort not to bash my children's father. Kelly and Johnston
(2001) describe the child's "denigration of the rejected parent" because of
the communication of highly negative views about the rejected parent by
the favored parent, which are then freely, angrily, and repeatedly
expressed to the child. I think we have overlooked that our children were
not in on the selection of their parents, we picked each other, and at least
one night, we liked each other.
With so much going on in the family structure, the bible references, "What
shall we say about such wonderful things as these? If God is for us, who
can ever be against us?" (New Living Translation, 1996, 2004, 2015,
Romans 8:31). We will continue to protect and fight so that this does not
continue to divide our family structure any longer.
