How does viewing my Trauma Psychology as a calling to share the Gospel
change how I view the tension between the science of psychology and
Christianity? Some of the tensions between psychology and Christianity is that in
science God is taken out of the picture and everything is based on facts; whereas
with Christianity, the bible is our guide and a lot of things come from faith. The
gospel of Jesus Christ can make it difficult in science depending on what angel
you come from. If you come from the angel of showing parallels to what science is
saying and what Jesus says in the bible, it can help non-believers. As I share the
gospel in Trauma Psychology, that can help give hope in healing while at the
same time I can help explain things scientifically. "Integrating Christianity and
psychology is living out the lordship of Christ over all existence by giving his
special revelation - God's true Word - its appropriate place of authority in
determining our fundamental beliefs about and practices toward all of reality, and
toward our academic subject matter in particular (Johnson, 2010, p. 115)."
The gospel message of the restoration of humankind matters a lot in my area,
because it gives hope, it gives healing. Jesus was not defeated, he arose again,
and so can the person who has been traumatized. John 16:33, "I have said these
things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have
tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
