I agree, it was intriguing reading about the two different perspectives on
forgiveness through the different views one with the integration of Psychology
and Christianity and the other through the lens of Levels of Explanation. You
mentioned that one explains why we forgive and the other explains how we
forgive. I think both, having the how and why are so important, which is why I
agree with the integration approach as long as the science backs up the word.
It's so important to understand why we do what we do. In the secular view as Dr.
Worthington states, focuses a lot about "me." What can be done for, "me.”?
Instead, God teaches us, the right ways to think. At the same time, it is important
to understand "how" we do things. If we don't understand how, then it is hard to
get to point A to point B. We can have the map, but do not understand how to get
to the next step and the bible doesn't always explain that in detail, and that's
where science can come in. "Every Christian Psychologist should strive to have
their work reflect the distinctiveness of Christian views of the person. (Johnson et
al., 2010, p. 112)
