The discussion of Wolter relating to the grand narrative provides a religious
perspective that can be effectively used in order to solve a number of challenges
present in the society of today. In my view, one of the major problems that exist
in society is the issue of homelessness. So, I will make use of the grand narrative
in order to get a better understanding of the historical experience that has been
expressed in the Bible. It will also leverage that knowledge to come up with
appropriate solutions to solve the problem of homelessness.
Many people around the world live below the poverty line. They do not have any
place or home to live in and are homeless. Such people require the help of
others. I am interested in understanding the different ways in which society can
work together and provide the required help to homeless people. According to the
framework provided by the Bible, it is the responsibility of the people living in the
society to extend help and take care of the vulnerable individuals in the
community. The Bible clearly states everyone on the earth is created for a
specific purpose. Therefore, it is important for each of us to view each other as a
part of the grand plan and will of God (Biblical basics for a Reformational
worldview, 2021). Before the eyes of the Lord, the father, each and every one is
equal. It is the responsibility of individuals to help the people in society to
overcome their potential challenges and afford a good living.
In order to ensure that humanity stays alive in the world, it is important to ensure
that the needs of the homeless are fulfilled by those who have sufficient of
everything. Wolter provides valuable insights relating to the different approaches
in order to address the problem. According to Wolter, individuals can rely on the
Bible in order to find answers to solve social issues such as homelessness.
In 1 Thess 5: 21, it is written that “test everything and hold fast to what is good.”
Therefore, it is important for every individual to test everything that is going on in
society. They must show acceptance of the things that promote the well-being of
people living in the society. On the other hand, it is important to discard those
aspects that result in disrespecting or mistreating vulnerable individuals in
society. It is important that individuals, especially Christians, must not avoid
participating in different social reforms, thinking that they should keep themselves
separate from the things of the world. Jesus had indeed come to save mankind
and save the people. So, as followers of Christ, it is the responsibility of the
Christians to be good to others and provide the essentials to the homeless
individuals and ensure that they get access to everything and lead a decent living.
