After reading Wolters, (2005) it has allowed me to better understand that the
Grand Narrative is not just from a true Biblical Worldview with creation, fall,
redemption and new creation but it has allowed me to see things from a difference
perspective in the workplace. I also am pursing a field of study as it relates to job
satisfaction in the workplace. It was interesting to see how you applied these
principles to understand workplace challenges and problems specifically with
conflict resolution and employee relationships. I can see how individuals from the
fall would be affected in these areas because their negativity and sin has tainted
their ability to be reasonable and rationale. If all employees were of the mindset
from the creation we would have harmony and stability in the workplace. There
would be homeostasis and chemistry among coworkers. If a supervisor was able
to identify with the Grand Narrative then they would be in a position to best
understand their employees specifically the fallen who would need additional
attention and resources made available to them. Due to their distortions of reality
and inability to operate within social norms, supervisors can use the Scriptures of
God specially with the Gospel to reorder love and position individuals for
redemption to see the good in each employee rather than firing them and setting
them loose on the streets to become even darker and sinful. “The sum of the total
evil and rottenness in the world is a result of human sin and the creature’s
enslavement to the devil, (Wolters, p. 67). a I enjoyed reading your topic on,
"employer and employee relationship: problem-solving and stability in the work
environment and putting that together with Wolter's view on the Grand Narrative.
As someone who works in the corporate world, it encourages me to just think
about the day-to-day challenges, but how we can look at it through a biblical view
in my life. I hadn't thought about working being part of the fall, but that is what
God told Adam in Genesis 3:17, "To Adam he said, "And to Adam he said,
“Because you have listened to the voice of your wife a and have eaten of the tree
of which I commanded you, a ‘You shall not eat of it,’ cursed is the ground because
of you; a in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; (English Standard
Version Bible, 2001, Genesis 3:17)."
As I go through my day-to-day challenges in the workplace, I can remember that
although there is more to this, I can find a way to be the light. I can find a way to
help resolves issues in different segments of the workplace. I can make a
difference and not just think of it as getting a check.
Thank God for his resurrection, for hope. "It begins with the creation of all things
and ends with the renewal of all things (Wolters, 2005, p. 126)
