The Psychological view (norms) and Biblical view (creation) together relat to the
belief that there is connection with individuals mind and behavior. According to the
American Psychological Association (APA, 2020), Psychology studies different aspects of
both the behavior and mind of individuals. The ages of individuals receiving Psychological
benefits can range from pediatric to geriatric years. Christians act as servants in a spiritual
capacity. Their biblical view also addresses the behavior and mental health of individuals,
by providing outreach for those that are lacking in physical, mental, financial and housing
areas.
Both entities need to gather information for the individuals they desire to help.
Psychologists rely on information of data that is collected quantitatively or qualitatively by
using subjects for studies to analyze variables through correlations, quasi experiments, and
experiments. a Knowledge is acquired to establish facts according to different established
rules and regulations (Jackson, 2018). Christians on the other hand, normally serve an entity
that is theologically based which gets revelation and wisdom from the sovereign God. They
have established board members and use the bible to gain knowledge of truth from the
word. Scripture states the bible is inspired by God for teaching, correcting and training (2
Tim. 3:16). The bible also states that God is not a man that He should lie about what He
has spoken (Num. 23: 19). Lastly, the bible states that the Word was with God and was
God in the beginning (John 1:1) and He created by His word (Heb. 1: 2,3).
The goals that Psychologists and Christians have are to make an impact and help as
many individuals as possible. In the Psychological arena, the Internal Review Board
established the Common Rule for doing human subject studies so that maximum benefits
are achieved for the study while minimum risks are encountered by the individual (IRB,
2018). That is similar to the Christian view. The bible states the 12 disciples were anointed
to provide outreach to individuals, power against unclean spirits, and to drive out every
disease (Mat 10:1). They were trusted to be good stewards and follow the blue-print
training of Jesus to outreach to others.
Unfortunately, Psychological studies may align with positive will instead of
creation. This is not in alignment with the church view. The bible states that God made all
things and wisdom was present during creation (Prov. 1: 22-23). We have been given the
ability to seek wisdom in whatever area of influence we are serving and become good
stewards by applying God’s will to the Psychological as well as other vocations. The
Biblical view is for individuals to be transformed by the renewing of their minds (Rom 12:
2).
The modern Psychological fit uses history, studies and replications of studies similar
to the Mosaic Law (one point of time and place). However, mindfulness and consciousness
have to
be guided and instructed through wisdom for growth of each individual (Prov. 9:9). Jesus
desires a us to be in health and prosper as our soul (mind, emotions, and will) prospers (3
John 1:2). The Biblical fit for Psychology addresses Christian’s gaining wisdom to steward
the secular and negative arenas for individuals that might be left behind. The bible states
God desires none to perish (2 Pet. 3: 9). The goal is for each entity to understand that the
individual is spirit, soul, and body from the Sovereign creator (1 Thes. 5: 2). a
