The viewpoint of psychology I am selecting for my research topic of
interest is the integration view. My primary goal is to connect spirituality
and psychology to display that they are seldom contradictory. I will be
basing my research on the psychology behind teens and their sexual
orientation - specifically focusing on homosexuality.
My PowerPoint will start with the context of my research which will include
the statistics on the approximate number of LGBTQ communities in the US
and across the globe. For anyone who is curious, the numbers are close to
10% in US schools (Najarro, 2021). The purpose of the first couple of
slides is to provide context into the statistics and prelude into the
psychology behind the numbers. Then comes the purpose of the work
itself. This section will incorporate the Scripture and its views on
homosexuality and psychology. Of course, limitations within current
knowledge of this topic will be discussed as well.
The method section will then dive into how I plan to conduct my research.
It will be relatively short as I plan to interview a diverse group of
teenagers who are biologically male and female. They will be given a
questionnaire and will be able to select answers between 1=least to
5=most. The results will be analyzed via Excel and presented in a concise
format. Excel is one of the most powerful tools for data analytics on the
market (Springer, 2021).
The findings component of the deck may be the most important because
it highlights the hypothesis versus results. This is really the meat of my
work. It is important that I tailor this to my audience of specialized
researchers. Diagrams will be incorporated and bullet points will be
minimized to maximize the impact of my work. In addition, there will be
one last slide highlighting the significance of this research. The
significance is really the intersection between psychology of teenagers
who identify with the LGBTQ community and Christianity. There are not
many research articles based on this intriguing topic, so I am excited to
embark on this research journey.
