My research topic of interest is agreeableness and society’s perception of
those deemed to be agreeable. From a biblical standpoint, kindness and
agreeableness are praised. These traits are desirable as they are morally
righteous. “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a
manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all
humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love,
eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians
4:32).

There are a couple of angles I can take in my research work. My primary
objective, however, is to identify how much one’s religion plays into
personality traits and society’s perception of those traits. I plan to
thoroughly analyze the Bible to paint a picture of what it means to be a
true Christian. From then on, I will integrate bits and pieces of my findings
into the overall conclusion. There is not much need for external resources
besides the Bible, but I do plan on utilizing research materials from
religious scholars on the intersection between religion and personality.*

I particularly enjoy reading the works of*Timoszyk-Tomczak*and
Szczesniak. Their work on self-esteem and religion from 2020 is a worthy
read. To enlighten the future generation of Christians, one must look at
the past and integrate modern ideas into research. There must also be a
fine line between the modern movement to reject religion altogether
versus the 21st century Christianity. I must look at topic-within-topic in
order to fully grasp the variables at hand. For example, agreeableness
may stem from low self-esteem as a result of distant relation from God or
it can simply arise from fear of hurting another human’s feelings.*

All in all, this will be an interesting topic to research and I look forward to
writing more discussion posts on my research topic of interest.
