One area of research that I have previously completed studies on and will
continue to research is childhood adversity and its impact on juvenile and
adult offending throughout development. This topic of research interests
me, because I eventually would enjoy working for the Office of Juvenile
Justice and Delinquency Prevention in order to implement programs to
combat juvenile offending for those youth who have been involved in the
child welfare system. I share this in detail so that I am able to explain how
this research area would look like from a biblical worldview.
To begin, this is my first class throughout my undergraduate and graduate
degree that I have had to look at research from a biblical worldview. While
reading the assigned article by Esqueda (2014), I concluded that the
information I spread those in my field is partially based on my personal
beliefs. For example, if I support a biblical worldview then this would be
exhibited in my research area because I have faith in God (Esqueda,
2014). Furthermore, If I were to have God at the center of my life then this
would be able to be seen in my everyday tasks I execute for my career.
One other example that I came across was Johnson’s (2010), discussion as
to how psychology is love. This struck my eye, because at times the cases
I have dealt with were difficult and after reading chapter five I have come
to the conclusion that the biblical worldview allows for psychologists to
challenge different research truths, because keeping God at the center of
their research makes this possible (Johnson, 2010). Overall, while
conducting my research I am able to use what is currently true among top
psychologists while at the same time including the truths of Christianity
into my studies (Johnson, 2010).
