Within my PhD journey, I am pursuing Industrial and Organizational
Psychology but I admit I have love for quite a few branches on the
roadway of Psychology. I did choose what my alignment is here though.
Some of the approaches cross over one another. I am absolutely excited
to see more of the work in the division of Aesthetics and Creativity (APA
Divisions, 2022). I decided to work through some of The Society for
Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP). I am still working on
reading through the views and finished Chapter 4 (Johnson, 2010). The
thoughts are that integrated works the Scriptures into the path of
Psychology and Christian Psychology works directly on the teachings of
Christ to explain human behavior. Sproul (2000) offered us an in-depth
look at Aristotle as an official leader on human behavior and the unmoved
mover. Hatfield (2002) then counterargued that psychology did not make
its appearance until much later and that it has vanished as the science
that we once saw during times of Freud. I disagree. I think a lot of this is
based upon our perception of the world in which we live and how we work
into the environment and how the environment, nature and nurture have
shaped us into becoming. I see that we pulls bits and pieces into a circular
view of our existence and most of us strive to have morals and values in
order to go on to a better world after this.4
4 4 SIOP has membership dues separate from the APA and they are holding
a conference in April of this year which sounds exciting! Their publication
is entitled4The Industrial and Organizational Psychologist4and is located
at4Research and Publications. Fall 2021 is their recently archived issue. It
looked at Diversity and Inclusion within the workplace in several of the
articles. It focused on several editorials and included issues on academics
like classroom sizes. Remember psychology for I/O is in schools, too! It is
something that I remind myself of as I work on Canvas and other Cisco
platforms.4
4 4 The top ten work trends is a separate platform in SIOP. Here they
discuss how employers can help mental health, diversity and inclusion,
and stress in the workplace and coping skills. Diversity and inclusion is the
biggest trend right now in the society including the workplace. God told us
to love our neighbors like we love ourself. Our neighbors can be strangers.
We therefore need to include and love everyone. Love would make the
world go around. That is an issue that should not even have to be
discussed. If there was more love then diversity would be depleted. We
would accept everyone. No matter what and without bias and labels.4
