Dear Dr. Pollard,
I am writing to you in reference to two journal articles that I have studied
relating to PTSD symptoms in frontline employees, job satisfaction, the
quality of life, and post-9/11 veterans. The articles are very interesting
concerning PTSD and its impact and e&ect on frontline workers and those
post-9/11 veterans. The 3rst article written by Schi& et al., deals with
PTSD and frontline workers. In the article, the population consisted of 457
individuals that work in frontline positions in homeless shelters. The
individuals come from 23 di&erent organizations in two Canadian cities
(Schi& et al., 2019). Employees in major organizations that provide
housing and support services to homeless people were chosen for the
study. Working in homeless shelters and population is very stressful and
challenging. Clients come into the shelters or facilities with multiple
problems and situations.
The study conducted was to determine if PTSD a&ects frontline employees
in this situation. It discussed whether employees experience burnout and
symptoms of PTSD. Results show that there is a high rate of employee
burnout. It also concluded that the organizations do little to combat this
problem among frontline employees. The study suggests that the lack of
support for employees helps to contribute to the burnout that employees
experience. Questions as to whether further training, educational
programs, and support are needed regardless of whether employees hold
a bachelor's or a master's degree. The study looked at the employee's
education, training, and pro3le in frontline services.
Statistical Analysis, PCL, and PROQoL along with three other scales were
used and showed signi3cant 3ndings that employees are impacted by
burnout. Scores on the PROQoL and PCL scales as well as the correlation
between traumatic stress and burnout were signi3cant at the 0,05 level
(two-tailed) and at 0.01 level (two-tailed) (Schi& et al., 2019). The two-
step regression analysis was also used in this study. The results show that
more study needs to be conducted, however, it also suggested that
burnout and PTSD symptoms do have an impact on frontline employees in
the homeless sector. Surveys were used to conduct this study.
The other journal article also focused on PTSD for work and the quality of
life for 9/11 veterans. The population in this study was conducted using
males and females. Surveys were also used in this study with 524 posts
9/11 veterans. The purpose was to determine if PTSD and the quality of
life were impacted by the quality of life of male and female veterans. For
this study, the authors used descriptive and regression-based analysis
(Vogt et al., (2017). Gender and weight were used to represent the
population. Other tests and scales include Time I (TI), a demographic
study sample for male and female post-9/11 veterans. Beck Depression
Inventory, subscale Inventory of Psychosocial Functioning (IPF), 7-point
Likert scale, Linear or logistic analysis. This study used the Job in General
scale (JIG), Family quality of life T2, Parenting subscales, Relationship
Assessment scale, Parental Satisfaction scale and the Dependent and
administrative variables (Vogt, 2017).
In using all the above mentioned scales the results show that PTSD is
likely in the workforce, and that it has an impact on the quality of life of
men and females post-9/11 veterans. This study consisted of limitations,
however, it also demonstrated reliability and validity.
I would like to speak further with you concerning these 3ndings so that we
may suggest or propose a solution to this matter. Please feel free to
contact via email or by phone at (602- 7867 at your earliest time. I look
forward to speaking with you and thank you for you time in this matter.
Regards,
