RE: ANTISOCIAL PERSONALITY DISORDER AND CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR
a a a a a a a a a a I am writing to inform you of the research findings from the three recent
articles. The research articles include “Etiology of Antisocial Personality Disorder:
The Differential Roles Of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Childhood
Psychopathology,” “Neural Mechanisms Underlying Affective Theory of Mind in
Violent Antisocial Personality Disorder or Schizophrenia,” and “Offenders with
Antisocial Personality Disorder Display More Impairment In Metalizing.” These
articles discuss typical concepts related to antisocial personality disorder and
criminal behavior.
In their article, Delisi et al. (2019) investigate the position of environmental factors
in evaluating antisocial personality disorder (ASPD), which contributes to
criminological attention. The authors elaborate on the contribution of neglect and
abuse to childhood psychopathology and criminal offending. The writers examine
the antecedent factors that span childhood experiences and psychopathology
associated with illegal behaviors.
a a a a a a a a a a The research employs retrospectives to obtain data from correctional
clients in the Midwest. The authors collected data from a population of 863
correctional participants who were under prison watch after obeying the
confinement sentence. The population of males was 84%, females 16%, which
were further categorized as Black Americans 20.6%, white Americans 79.4%, non-
Hispanic 92%, and 8% Hispanic with an average age of 44 years old.
The article investigates the association of ASPD to violence and crime. The
authors examine environmental factors contributing to ASPD development
associated with criminal behaviors.
The researchers employ multinomial regression and one-way of variance (ANOVA)
to test the variable.
The childhood experience is associated with the ASPD since the abuse and
neglect experiences appear.

Schiffer et al. (2017) investigate the relationship of schizophrenia with the risks of
hostile behaviors, such as violence and criminality.
The research involved three groups, 13 male offenders with both schizophrenia
and CD/ASPD. The next group comprised 16 violent offenders indicating
schizophrenia but lacking CD/ASPD. Lastly, researchers chose approximately 18
individuals with CD/ASPD and schizophrenia but lacking acute mental illness.
The article investigates the underlying neural mechanism of the mind associated
with schizophrenia. It also examines the variance of two groups in the neutral
activation and sense theory. Other factors include criminality and violence.
The research employs the one-way of variance (ANOVA) to test the activation
pattern for the three groups.
The researchers reveal that an intervention is necessary to reduce violence among
the two groups of offenders with ASPD.

Newbury-Helps et al. (2017) examine the social cognition concerning exact
envisioning mental problems in individuals with an antisocial personality disorder
and a violent history.
The researchers recruited 83 males with known conditions of convicted offenses.
The article investigates the specific social cognition challenges of individuals with
a violent history and antisocial response to visualizing mental states. The
variables included violent history and antisocial response.
The ANOVA and Shapiro-Wilk test was employed to estimate the impairment of
metalizing on offenders with antisocial personalities.
The offender indicates exact mentalizing impairments within the entire population.
This condition is acute to people with antisocial personality disorders. The finding
is essential in improving risk assessment and clinical interventions.

Question# B Comparison
The articles provide an in-depth understanding of the relationship between ASPD
and criminal behaviors. The review of ASPD history on criminal offenders can help
provide accurate psychological intervention. The articles elaborate on the
relationship between ASPD and the risk of hostile behaviors in childhood
correlated with criminality and violence. These articles improve individuals’
understanding of individuals’ clinical interventions for antisocial personality
disorder and criminal behavior. The results of the papers appear contradictory
because of the different variables of interest.
