All That Glitters Isn't Gold
There comes a time in everyone's life, where you have to know what is real
and what is fake. We as a society are so much in a hurry to judge things that we
do not take the time to find out the naked truth of a situation. There are countless
scams in our society. Some people say that you can only be fooled if you are
gullible. I for one tend to differ with that statement, and one should not be so
critical of an individual who has been scammed or robbed. The people who prey
on people who are non -suspecting, know who, to target; and the majority of these
victims are senior citizens that are in the community. The senior citizens do not
have a suspicious mind. So, when the senior citizens are approached by these con-
artists, they become a victim. Most of the time the senior citizens that seemed to be
targeted are just lonely and they want someone to talk to, or have companionship.
The predators knowing this are equipped to tell barefaced lies. The majority of
their actions on a whole are premeditated, because they have to think and plot to
get their next victim.
People, who scam for a living, take a lot of time and energy to put their
scam plan into action. This is their livelihood because they may or may not have
any other means of income. Then you have the common thief. This particular
individual does not go to the extreme that the scam artist does. This thief goes
down a different road. Have you ever been somewhere in a crowd and felt
someone give you a bump? Well! you better check your hand bag or your wallet,
because nine times out of ten, you have been robbed in one fell swoop. I often
wonder why people who do not want to work for a living go to such great lengths
to steal and scam people. They can take that same energy and channel it into a job
that is rewarding and will not have the possibility of jail attached to it. All of that
misplaced energy could be used for something productive.
Every dog will have his day, so even though thieves, scam artists and the
like, think that they are getting away with taking advantage of people who are not
as sharp as them, they will get their just do in the end.
I do not want to sound too sanctimonious, but in closing I would like to say
that an individual can not be scammed if they themselves are not trying to get over
(this excludes the senior citizens). Remember if it looks too good to be true, then
nine times out of ten, it is a scam.
