Discussion: Evidence-Based Practice, Quality Initiatives, and Research
To improve patient outcomes, nurses participate in Quality Improvement (QI) efforts,
research studies, and Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) projects. There are slight differences in
research studies, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement that frequently overlaps and
presents an obstacle to nurses when determining a safe and effective solution to a medical issue.
Quality improvement initiatives employ methodical approaches to enhance patient outcomes
(Antonacci, Reed, Lennox, & Barlow, 2018). Projects that focus on Evidence-Based Practices
(EBP) seek and apply the best clinical evidence from research to guide patient-care decisions.
Research studies employ qualitative and quantitative methodologies to generate new
information.
In order to lead an Evidence-Based Practice or quality project, it is necessary to have a
thorough understanding of research and the ability to evaluate the evidence accurately. This is
because only when nurses have a thorough knowledge of research can they assess it for
reliability, which is the consistency of the measure under consideration (Chien, 2019). The
reliability parameter assures that the findings are attributable to the study conducted and not to
any conceivable factors that are extraneous to the investigation. In this way, nurses can only
generalize the research findings and use them in the appropriate medical situation if the study’s
reliability and validity are fulfilled (Chien, 2019). Thus, ensuring the administration of the safest
and most effective diagnosis and treatment.
Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) was highly valued in my previous place of employment.
Every individual member of the health care team has to contribute to the evidence-based practice
culture by doing their research and keeping up to speed with publications in their broad area of
care, among other things. Numerous organizations also have frequent, short meetings in which

staff members can exchange updates on care methods and relevant or fascinating information in
their respective fields. These sessions provide excellent chances for people to offer contributions
that the whole team will consider, discuss, and further research. By establishing a continuous
discourse regarding evidence-based practices in an atmosphere that supports/embraces based
research, every staff member may contribute to the improvement of the culture and patient
outcomes.
