Who is doing this research study?
The principal investigator for this study is ….., a DNP student at Liberty University.
Why are you asking me to be in this research study?
You are being asked to be in this research study because you have history of ongoing visits at
the clinical setting lasting for more than 3 months from its project commencement and
exacerbating mild to moderate mental health conditions.
Why is this research being done?
This EBP project entails an implementation and evaluation of a standardized approach to
mental health screening and recommendation for housing in improving individual wellbeing of
homeless young adult males.
What will I be doing if I agree to be in this research study?
You will dedicate about 1 hour one day during the consenting and pre data collection steps, as
explained above. During the first 30 minutes, the consent form will be discussed and signed.
Then, during the next 10 minutes they will be presented with Participants’ Demographics
Survey and the other 20 minutes the CCH Consumer Outcome Scale Survey. For the surveys,
pencil/paper method will be used as described above. During follow up data collection in week
7 and 10 the participants will dedicate each 20 minutes one day in the each of the weeks to
answer questions on the CCH Consumer Scale Survey only via the pencil/paper method, during
their weekly appointments. The PM will be directly involved in managing the time spent by the
participants.
Are there possible risks and discomforts to me?
This study involves minimal risk to you. To the best of our knowledge, the things you will be
doing have no more risk of harm than you would have in everyday life
What happens if I do not want to be in this research study?
You can decide not to participate in this research and it will not be held against you. You can
exit the interview at any time without repercussions.
Will it cost me anything? Will I get paid for being in the study?
There is no cost for participation in this study. Participation is voluntary and no payment will be
provided.
How will you keep my information private?
Your responses are anonymous. Information we learn about you in this research study will be
handled in a confidential manner, within the limits of the law. Participants in the study will be
electronically coded and assigned identification codes for the survey and assessments. All
electronic transmissions and contact over the internet, or cellular device will be encrypted. This
data will be available to the researcher, the Institutional Review Board and other
representatives of this institution, and any granting agencies. The P.I. and faculty advisors are
the only personnel who will have access to the data.
Eligibility:
1) Participants exhibiting homelessness in the past one year
2) Male participants aged of 18 to 30 years old
3) Participants with recent visits recorded (<3 months) and have presented with
exacerbating mental health conditions; such as anxiety, depression, bipolar and
psychotic disorders among other mental illnesses.
4) Participants with ongoing weekly treatment visits for mental health issues at the
clinical setting
5) Participants who can read and write in the English language
