Balancing School and Life - My Quality of Life Self-
Care Plan.
The purpose of developing this Plan is to set a framework and a plan
to maintain wellness and to stay motivated and engaged throughout
your Program. Doing this will help you achieve success during your
coursework and as a professional nurse.
The goal of the Project is to help you become self-aware and
reflective as a means of identifying personal self-care strategies that
will increase your energy and help you manage your stress. The
Project will give you a chance to learn how this is accomplished as
you will be doing similar work with clients during the Program and as
a professional nurse to assist them in the same way.
Use the%Quality of Life Self-Care Wheel%to assess your current state.
After you determine your scores, in a paper complete the following:
Discuss those areas that are strengths (higher scores) and those
areas that need further development (lower scores).
Identify two strategies you can use to maintain or maximize each
identified strength.
Identify two strategies you can use to strengthen each area needing
development. Explain how you will put these strategies into action. Be
specific. For example, instead of stating, "I need to exercise," your
action should state "I will begin to walk 20 minutes a day, 3 days a
week." The action should be

Title: Balancing School and Life - My Quality of Life Self-Care Plan
Introduction: In order to maintain wellness, stay motivated, and achieve success both academically and
professionally as a nurse, it is essential to develop a self-care plan that supports personal well-being. By
becoming self-aware and reflective, we can identify strategies to increase energy levels and effectively
manage stress. This project aims to help you cultivate self-care practices, which you can later apply to
your clients as a nurse.
Assessment of Current State: To begin, assess your current state using the Quality of Life Self-Care
Wheel. The wheel consists of various domains or areas that contribute to your overall well-being. Assign
a score from 1 to 10 for each domain, with 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest level of
satisfaction or engagement.
Analysis of Strengths and Areas for Development: After completing the assessment, it is crucial to
identify the strengths and areas that require further development. Let's discuss both aspects:
Strengths: Highlight the areas where you scored higher, indicating strengths in your self-care practices.
These may include domains such as:
Physical Well-being: A high score in this area suggests that you are taking care of your body through
regular exercise, a balanced diet, sufficient sleep, and other physical activities that promote well-being.
Emotional Well-being: A high score in this domain signifies that you possess good emotional intelligence
and are skilled at managing stress, cultivating positive relationships, and expressing emotions in a
healthy manner.
Social Relationships: A high score here indicates that you have a strong support system, maintain
meaningful connections, and actively engage with family, friends, or other social networks.
Intellectual Stimulation: A high score in this area suggests that you are continuously challenging yourself
intellectually, seeking new knowledge, and engaging in activities that promote mental growth and
stimulation.
Spiritual Growth: A high score in this domain implies that you have a strong sense of purpose or
meaning in life, engage in activities that align with your values or beliefs, and find solace or inspiration in
spiritual practices.
Areas for Development: Identify the areas where you scored lower, indicating a need for further
development in your self-care practices. These may include domains such as:
Time Management: A lower score in this area suggests that you struggle with effectively managing your
time between school, personal life, and self-care activities. It may be necessary to implement strategies
such as setting priorities, creating schedules, and practicing effective time management techniques.
Relaxation and Stress Management: A lower score here indicates a need to enhance your stress
management skills and incorporate regular relaxation techniques into your routine. This could involve
activities like meditation, deep breathing exercises, or engaging in hobbies that promote relaxation.
Environmental Well-being: A lower score in this domain implies that you may need to evaluate and
improve your physical environment, ensuring it is conducive to your well-being. This could involve
organizing your study or living space, creating a calming atmosphere, and reducing clutter or
distractions.
Financial Management: If you scored lower in this area, it suggests that you need to develop effective
strategies for managing your finances. Consider creating a budget, seeking financial advice, or exploring
opportunities for financial stability.
Self-Care Practices: If your score was low in this domain, it indicates a need to prioritize self-care
activities and develop a routine that allows you to recharge and take care of your physical and mental
well-being.
Conclusion: By analyzing the strengths and areas for development identified through the Quality of Life
Self-Care Wheel assessment, you can create a personalized self-care plan. This plan should prioritize
areas requiring further development, enabling you to enhance your overall well-being and maintain
balance between school and life. Remember that self-care is an ongoing
