When looking at the eight characters in Howell readings, I relate to Giden a little. Some
characteristics that I would use to describe him are skepticism and timidity of faith. Before I got
deeper into my spiritual journey, I ran from my calling and purpose from the lord due to my lack
of faith. I lost myself after going through a traumatic experience at the age of twelve, so I am
very thankful for where I am now. After submitting to God’s plan for my life and the bigger
picture of my purpose I would say I relate the most with Joseph in my own leadership path.
What stands out to me is when Howell stated “His repeated promotions and success is attributed
not to strength of will or superiority of intellect, but to divine favor” ( Howell. 2003). I have
been through so much in my life in certain areas that have made me who I am today. Looking
back, I wouldn't have pictured my life like this especially since I was at my low point a couple of
years ago. When we are going through a situation, we never see the brighter side of it until we
reach it. I am thankful for God and I give praise to him, because I could have been stuck in an
unenlightened place. God has placed his grace, guidance, protection and love over all areas of
my life so that I can fulfill my divine purpose. Joseph’s outlook towards God has become the
outlook that I have strive for every day. God has been there for me through all of my trials and
tribulations, and has helped me to become a stronger person. However, I would add Joseph’s
integrity to my life because he will always be remembered for it, and for being a good person.

Hi Jessica,
Thank you for this week's discussion forum because it really showed your emotions through
it. I wanted to first thank you for your services, because I know the job you had was not easy.
We live in a time period where a lot of women are starting to get into leadership positions, but it
is still hard to attain. Deborah is a woman that shows boldness, confidence, and leadership
qualities that I believe all women should use in everyday life. Women tend to bring a lot to the
table because we tend to have multiple jobs that we are trying to exceed. For example, we are
trying to be a great mother, friend, sister, great employee, and the list goes on. Sometimes we
can lose focus on ourselves due to wearing many different hats, and Deborah shows us the way
especially in the spiritual aspect. Women in leadership are needed because we give a different
approach and feeling to churches and sermons. I believe that she created the pathway for women
to do the unthinkable and do what they are passionate about. As human beings, we sometimes do
things based on money and end up being unhappy about it.
Hi Nicole,
Thank you for being honest about what has happened to you regarding your family. I am sorry

that you had to go through that situation, because I know that it was not easy. It has always been
said to me that God gives the hardest challenges to his strongest warriors, and I always took that
to me. When we are going through obstacles, we always tend to wonder why this is happening to
us and not seeing the bigger picture in everything. I have gone through family issues as well and
it hurts, because we wonder why the people who are supposed to love us unconditionally will
hurt us. However, I realized that hurt people tend to hurt others due to their own demons that
they have not resolved. As human beings when we first get hurt, we go looking for revenge due
to the pain and suffering. However, we shouldn't do that because God is not about hate, but he is
about love and forgiveness. God has forgiven us for so many things and never has judged us, and
I believe that we should do the same. I love that you are standing in faith and not letting the
situation get you down. Through every trial and tribulations comes lessons behind it to help
discover our ultimate purpose here.
Hi Theresa,
Thank you for your discussion forum this week because I was just discussing this concept in
my discussion forum. In the beginning of my spiritual journey I was lost and I was lacking in my
faith. When I went through my traumatic experience when I was younger, I used to wonder why
me ? I used to believe that I was to blame for what has occured to me, and that I must have done
something bad to deserve this. However, I realized that giving us these challenges helps us grow
stronger and become the person that we are meant to be. Therefore, we will need to go through
transformations that will help us shred our old way of thinking for a better way. When
something bad occurs to us, we are so quick to yell that God is this and that, but we are not
looking at the bigger picture. We are all here for a divine purpose so this means that we will
need to change certain things that are no longer serving us to help us achieve our purpose.
Looking back I did not obey because my faith was in and out and not consistent, but now it is
growing and I am thankful. God bless you Theresa.
