I. State your research question.
How theology and pastoral counseling work together to council women to love God with all of
their heart, mind, and soul; and loving their neighbor as themselves through the practice of self-
love.
II. Justify using an interdisciplinary approach.
The purpose of this study is to council women through a theological approach of Biblical love
and intrapersonal growth.
III. Identify your relevant disciplines.
Theology, apologetics, and pastoral counseling.
IV. Provide insight from your research.
Counseling women to love themselves through the practice of biblical love can be difficult.
Understanding self-love and agape love can differ from one another. At times, self-love can be
misunderstood as worldly love. There needs to be a deeper understanding of God’s creation of
mankind in His image and the importance of loving ourselves in the image of God.
V. Provide insight from your research.
1. The importance of loving God with all of your heart, mind, and soul.
2. How to love yourself in the image of God.
3. How to love your neighbor as yourself.
VI. Discuss any conflicts between insights or theories.
There is much conflict between mankind seeing themselves in the image of God and sin nature
from the fall in the beginning of nature.
VII. Discuss any conflicts between insights or theories.
Common ground between theology and counseling are both designed for oneself to be
transformed by the renewing of the mind.
2
VIII. Provide conclusions drawn from your research.
The importance of a person learning the value of self-love from the foundation of biblical love is
vital. Furthermore, to understand how to love oneself through the foundation of biblical love, it
takes proper mentorship to build a solid foundation. Without self-love there is no solid
foundation in loving your neighbor as you love yourself.
IX. Suggest ideas for future research related to your topic.
A study of how DNA and brain function effects our sin nature making it challenging to overcome
the patterns of this world.
X. Discuss how you might approach your research topic from a biblical viewpoint.
I will discuss this topic from a biblical viewpoint of the creation of in Genesis 1 and 2. The
foundation of holiness in Romans 12 and loving God with all of your heart, mind, and soul in
Deuteronomy 6:4-7; Matthew 22:37-40; Mark 12:30-31; Luke 10:27.
