ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

Your Annotated Bibliography Assignment must follow the current style format of your Area of
Study I (including a title page) and consist of at least 15 empirical, scholarly sources that have
been published within the last 10 years. All sources must be directly related to your final paper.
Be sure to select a variety of respected sources you can use in your paper (e.g. journal articles, e-
books, scholarly websites, etc.).
INSTRUCTIONS:
Each source citation must be followed by an annotation. The annotations are designed to help
your instructor better understand and more easily learn about your topic. The annotation is not a
normal required component of current style formats; rather, it is a specific additional requirement
for this assignment. Annotations from your INDS 500 research may be used as long as the
annotations meets the requirements listed below.

Note the following requirements for your Annotated Bibliography Assignment:
1) Title page
2) Each annotation should be a minimum of 150 words.
3) The proposed research question for the final paper listed at the beginning of the
assignment, along with the two areas of study used for integration.
4) At least 15 scholarly research sources (10 from your primary Area of Study (AOS), 5 from
your secondary Area of Study).
5) Bibliographic citation in the formatting style of your primary Area of Study.
6) For each source include:
a) Purpose of the study
b) Research methods used
c) Results of the study
7) Interdisciplinary Focus: Step 6 Evaluate insight of each source
a) What discipline(s) is/are represented?
b) What disciplinary insights are gained from the source?
c) What disciplinary theories are discussed?
d) How does this study provide support for your research topic?
8) Any direct quotations must have quotation marks around them and an in-text citation.
Do not cut and paste abstracts or sections from your sources, as this constitutes plagiarism. Most
of the time, this occurs as an innocent oversight on the part of the candidate. Regardless of
reason, in the event of plagiarism, you will receive 0 points for the entire assignment.
It is highly recommended that you use the Jerry Falwell Library link under the Resource tab in
the upper right hand corner of Canvas menu. You will find many tips for formatting in current
styles (APA, MLA, AMA, Turabian, etc.), navigating databases, locating resources for citation,
and returning the best results on your online searches.
