Synthesis Essay
I attended Liberty University to pursue a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. It turned out to be a
fantastic decision for my career. I am in my second last semester. I plan to do an MBA in Human
Resources; I have gotten all the required upper-level courses, and I want to pursue my career in
Human Resources. The Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies is a liberal degree that
can help me to achieve a variety of goals, such as combining multiple areas of interest into a
single program, transferring credits from a community college with a wide variety of subject
areas, or earning a degree for a career that requires the acquisition of new and relevant skills. My
major areas of study are Business, Computational Sciences, and Social Sciences.
Throughout this program, I have encountered several obstacles, such as balancing online classes
and making assignments with my full-time job. But this degree has broadened my perspectives
as well. I can think, Use evidence-based skills and have a critical eye to examine
multidisciplinary subjects. I've learned more about the value of continuing my education due to
each online course, learning exercise, and discussion.
An interdisciplinary degree can help in every kind of profession or work. For Example, a degree
in interdisciplinary studies could allow anyone to combine marine biology with media studies,
video production, or journalism to fulfill the passion for creating underwater documentaries. In
the same way, I choose Business in my science degree as my primary subject; It could
encompass business ownership, management of corporations, financial management (including
banking, insurance, real estate, and stock brokerage and analysis), management of human
resources and labor relations, sales and marketing, economic and marketing research, and public
service. So it is beneficial to me in my future Human Resource career.
The graduate of an interdisciplinary program will be in high demand in many different industries
because of their unique ability to multitask and think creatively. Graduates of interdisciplinary
programs often find work in executive positions. The teaching profession is another preferred
option for students majoring in interdisciplinary studies. Many people with degrees in
interdisciplinary fields end up working in the education sector, either as teachers or as school
administrators and counselors at all levels of education.
My Second area of study is Computational Sciences. Computational Science is an
interdisciplinary field that relies extensively on mathematical principles to address complicated
problems in science and engineering. As technology progresses, this major is constantly evolving
and changing. In 2019-2020, Computational Science ranked as the 244th most popular major.
This year alone, colleges in the United States conferred 1,184 degrees. This represents a
difference of 342 from the previous year, a 28.9% increase. This major emphasizes mathematics
and teaches me computation theory and practice, scientific visualization, grid analysis, and high-
performance parallel computing. In addition to these courses, they teach me management and
leadership abilities, which are helpful in my future profession.
My third primary subject is Social Sciences. It allows me to utilize multiple social scientific
disciplines, such as Economics, Geography, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology,
and Urban and Regional Planning, while I endeavor to comprehend social problems, public
policy concerns, and societal questions. The program's flexible structure allows me to pursue my
specific, specialized, and pre-professional interests. Graduates of interdisciplinary studies in
social science pursue professions in various fields, excelling in positions requiring in-depth
social science and liberal arts knowledge.

These three subjects are fundamental and helpful to my human resource career growth and future
job. Human resources (HR) departments are essential to the success of modern businesses.
Companies rely on human resources to increase employee productivity, design benefits
packages, identify and retain talent, and apply company-wide policies to enhance operations.
This is a tall assignment for human resource professionals, but it comes with high job
satisfaction, significant earning potential, and ample room for advancement. It may even lead to
a position at the executive level of a corporation. The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) says that
by 2030, there will be an extra 70,000 HR jobs. And the salary is as good as the job prospects.
Glassdoor and Indeed says that the average salary for an HR professional in the United States is
about $70,000 per year, and this is true even for entry-level jobs. People who have worked for a
few years and are in the top 10% of earners make more than $100,000 a year.
Ultimately, I hope to use the abilities I've received from this experience to develop new skills
over time and become a more excellent leader and service provider in my profession and outside.
One of the primary benefits of majoring in interdisciplinary studies is the variety of views and
knowledge bases. I may also have greater freedom in tailoring my degree courses to my specific
needs and objectives. I think students interested in fusing their passions for science with fields
like Business, psychology, the humanities, or social sciences should consider pursuing a
Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies.
