Mission Statement:
The Bridge is dedicated to empowering teens aging out of the foster care system by providing
essential resources, education, and support to help them transition into independent adulthood
and become thriving members of the community.
Brief History of the Organization’s Involvement in the Community:
Founded in 2015 by a group of Thomas and Jessica Wright, two experienced foster parents,
along with other community advocates, The Bridge has been committed to addressing the
challenges faced by teens who age out of the foster care system. Over the past decade, the
organization has developed comprehensive programs focused on education, vocational training,
housing assistance, and mental health services. The Bridge’s efforts have resulted in over 200
teens successfully transitioning to independent living, with many becoming active contributors to
their communities. The Bridge has also raised awareness about the unique needs of this
vulnerable population and fostered partnerships with local businesses, schools, and government
agencies.

Brief Description of the Project:
The Bridge proposes the "Pathways to Independence" project, which aims to expand our existing
programs to reach more teens aging out of foster care in the Central North Carolina area. The
project will focus on providing transitional housing, life skills training, and employment support.
The Bridge will collaborate with local businesses to create job placement opportunities and offer
mentorship programs. The goal is to equip these teens with the tools and confidence they need to
successfully navigate adulthood and build a brighter future.
Notable Relationships/Partnerships in the Community:
The Bridge has established strong relationships with several local organizations, including the
Alamance County Community College, the Alamance Chamber of Commerce, and several

religious organizations. These partnerships have been crucial in providing housing, educational
opportunities, and employment pathways for the teens we serve. Additionally, we work closely
with the Alamance County Department of Social Services to ensure that our programs are
aligned with state initiatives and best practices.
