With an evolving world, disasters evolve as well. The more we build and move forward
in our daily lives, things are changing all around us. The more things change, the more people
begin to prepare for what they may face in their altered life. There are two types of disasters that
we face as humans, one of which we cannot change. The “acts of God” our world faces are a
type of disaster that we as humans must prepare for and endure once they arise. Disasters that are
“man-made” should be looked at from a different lens and controlled so that we continue to
grow, but in an environmentally sound way. Man-made disasters include but are not limited to,
oil/gas leaks and industrial fires.
Approaching these disasters can be broad and difficult for people as challenges are faced
without any notice. Preparing yourself to be ready for “all-hazards” can have everlasting impacts
on your family and possible your life if planned properly. The planning for such disasters

should be based off of the experience from those individuals that have “been there, done that.”

It is imperative that planning be based off past experiences so that those starting from scratch
cover all the bases needed in order to maintain what they have. The difficult thing in this case
are how different geographical areas dictate the planning process. The government will be
needed in order to hire well qualified individuals in locations as disaster managers to plan,
coordinate, implement steps, and update policy as time and people change. Recently, my home
