DiVietri, P. J. (n.d.). Industriousness. Retrieved September 20, 2021, from
http://www.familylifeinstitute.org/Articles/fli_aIndustriousness.pdf
It is a listing of written work with each entry followed by a brief paragraph summarizing the
content and purpose of the work, discussing its relevance to the topic, highlighting unique
aspects of the work and describing the works strengths, weaknesses and biases
This work by Dr. Patrick J. DiVietri is about how work effects someone, especially good,
virtuous work. In addition, he talks about how industriousness is a sort of gift from God that
allows us to bear good fruit from the virtues of working if we choose to be persistent in the hard
work that it takes to achieve it. This work is relevant to my topic as it gives a definition of
industriousness, what it takes to be industrious from a natural and spiritual view, and how being
industrious helps people achieve the full potential of their gift from God. A unique thing Dr.
DiVietri has in this work is using industrious as being good not only in the material world but
also in the spiritual world; it creates a sort of bridge of how industriousness is good and how it
effects both worlds.
Hard work and industriousness. Aaron Lynn. (2020, November 6). Retrieved September 21,
2021, from https://aaronlynn.com/hard-work-industriousness/
This work by Aaron Lynn discusses industriousness and hard work and his definition of
industriousness. He discusses about working smarter to outwork everyone else and how and why
hard work is important. He further discusses how to live industriously and work hard by giving a
system by understanding what hard work means to you, what to work on, and explaining how
industriousness is a virtue but also a habit. This relates to my topic as it provides a definition
from a successful businessperson’s personal view, his thoughts on hard work, and how

industriousness is important to be successful. The strength with this work is that this work comes
from his personal experience and that hes a successful businessperson because of
industriousness. The bias here is that he offers his own person view of the positives of
industriousness and hard work but not his failures or sacrifices on being industriousness and hard
working.
Murray, C. (2013). American Exceptionalism. [Liberty University Online Bookshelf]. Retrieved
from https://libertyonline.vitalsource.com/#/books/9780844772653/
This chapter by Charles Murray expands on Americas exceptionalism. Murray explains the four
traits of Americas exceptionalism and how they each made America exceptional. With
industriousness he gives a formal definition of, explains what it is, and how it made America
exceptional in its work. He gives comparisons of America to other countries as well in this
aspect. This relates to my topic because this is where I got my topic from, has a formal definition
and how it applied to America and was compared to other countries in the past. The strength here
is that Murray explains and gives examples of industriousness of America and how its what
made America exceptional with comparisons rather than not giving examples or comparisons.

This article discusses the personality traits that psychologists say are indicators of high
achievements. Of the two, industriousness is a better indicator and researchers have gone a study
that supports that claim. This article is relevant to my topic as it has psychologists listing
industriousness as the indicative personality for high achievement with a small research
background to support that claim. The strength here is that the claims for industriousness aren’t
personal opinions but supported facts that have been researched.

exceptional-economy/americas-exceptional-work-ethic/video.
This video discusses Americas history with industriousness and present industriousness, how
Americans continue to strive in industriousness, and Americas work ethic. The strength of this is
source is its use of statistics, historical insight, view on industriousness presently.

The is article discusses the many views that other countries see America in various areas. Most
importantly for this assignment how America is perceived in terms of optimism, hard work, and
industriousness. The strength of this article is that is holds formal research that has been done to
support that industriousness is a trait that makes America exceptional and has other statistics that
shows how hard-working Americans are.

This work is more a commentary on a German entrepreneurs thoughts on how Berlin can have
successful businesses and how he mentioned the results from the research above. This work is
relevant as I can use to it as supporting the above research and have a foreign perspective on
being successful with industriousness. The strength in this is that it references the above research
and uses a sort of foreign outlook on being successful in starting a successful business. The
weakness is this work is more of a support to the above research rather than its own standalone
work to reference.
Industrious America. Livology. (2020, June 9). Retrieved September 28, 2021, from
https://livology.com/industrious-america/.
The work discusses the authors first experience in America: How industriousness it is, how fast
paced everything is, and how they liked it and became industrious themselves. The author brings
up the cons of being industrious and how addictive it is and easy to forgot other things. This
work relates to the assignment as it provides a foreigners perspective on the industriousness of
America and how they became industriousness themselves. This is the strength of this work for
the assignment and that it also provides a negative insight on being too industrious with their
experience.
