Qn.1
The length of the runs would depend on the type of 800m runner with whom the track
coach is dealing (Chandler and Brown, 2019). There is the 400m/800m type; then there is the
800m type, and lastly, the resistant 800m/1500m group. The 400m is very fast at 400m personal
best and should continuously run for 400m to benefit from the higher intensity. The runs can
cumulatively cloak 90 minutes. The resistant 800m/1500m type could benefit from lower
intensity but longer runs of a maximum of 800m or 1500m depending on their aerobic
endurance. They can do the tempo run between 20 to 30 minutes continuously. The 800m type
should not run longer than one hour for a length of 800m. The coach should utilize the strengths
of the various types to ensure the training is effective and efficient in delivering the desired
outcomes.
Qn.2
The three principal elements of training should guide the coach to determine the various
information needed. These elements include speed, resistance, and endurance (Liberty University
Custom, 2016). The appropriate training for these students will depend on whether the coach’s
focus is on endurance, or resistance, or speed. For the high school players, the method most
appropriate for them is aerobic conditioning because they need to build endurance, stimulate
muscles for more glycogen, increase stroke volume, increase the capacity of the athletes’ lungs
to deliver oxygen, prepare the grounds for the body to strain during training, and raise the
number of mitochondria and their efficiency during running (Chandler and Brown, 2019). The
coach’s athletes need to run for long distances in their cross country sport. While speed and

resistance are essential, the primary requirement is the endurance to push and finish the length of
the distance supposed to be covered.
Qn. 3
The issue with the 5-kilometre runner is the stretches he does before he starts the runs.
According to Liberty University Custom (2016), stretching before a run makes the body muscles
weaker, and therefore, slower. To increase his effectiveness, the runner should do away with the
stretches before they start running. Secondly, the runner should adjust their warm-up runs into
specific time intervals. The runner should warm-up for thirty to forty minutes. The running
should be split into walking for around five to ten minutes, jogging for five to ten minutes, and
increasing the pace a bit for the next five to ten minutes (Chandler and Brown, 2019). Jogging
should increase the heart rate and help blood flow to the athlete’s muscles.
