EVANGELISM VISION PAPER
Wilbur Medley
EVAN525: Contemporary Evangelism
March 8, 2024
Introduction:
This semester while studying evangelism has been transformational in my Christian walk. The
course has instilled in me a desire to deepen my relationship with Jesus through evangelism. It
has equipped me mentally and spiritually, emphasizing the importance of evangelism,
empowering, and equipping individuals for the establishment and extension of the church.
Through the readings and discussions, I have realized that evangelism goes beyond mere
participation in church activities like singing in the choir or ushering; it involves actively
reaching out to others to share the Gospel. This course has broadened my understanding of
evangelism as a vital aspect of my walk with Jesus, inspiring a greater passion for sharing my
testimony and spreading the message of Jesus through evangelism.
The course has highlighted the importance of having a personal vision for combining evangelism
into all aspects of my life. It has challenged me to reflect detailed changes needed to fulfill this
vision, including prioritizing spiritual undertakings over material interests. The emphasis on
implementing the role of a servant in evangelism and becoming more vocal and bolder in
witnessing has prompted me to reflect on how I can embody these qualities in my daily dealings.
Most importantly, the course has stressed the need for intentional evangelism as a lifestyle rather
than an occasional activity.
Moreover, the discussions on future ministry and calling related to evangelism have encouraged
me to visualize how true biblical evangelism fits into various roles within the church community.
Whether as a pastor, youth minister, church planter, counselor, or member, the course has
inspired me to develop specific plans for implementing evangelistic practices into my daily life.
This self-evaluation process has led me to acknowledge God’s constant work around us and how
we can actively participate in reaching people with the Gospel.
This semester’s study on evangelism has reformed my understanding by emphasizing the
transformative power of sharing one’s faith and actively engaging in evangelical labors. It has
challenged me to incorporate evangelism into every aspect of life, accept a servant mindset, and
embrace boldness in witnessing. The course has encouraged me to envision a future ministry
deeply rooted in Biblical evangelism and growth while nurturing a passion for developing true
disciples who are zealous to share their faith.
Thinking That Has Changed:
As I stated earlier, I have come to change the way I see evangelism. My understanding of the
Great Commission and Ephesians 4:11 are now clearer and more certain. I now do not see
evangelism as a spiritual gift but is and commandment all must follow.1 Growing up I was taught
because of the Ephesians 4 verse that being an evangelist was a spiritual gift yet when I look at
the verse the first thing mentioned was evangelist, I now see that it goes hand and hand with the
Great Commission. All are called to tell the good news not some. If the church is going to be
successful at sharing the Gospel, they must eliminate this mind-set.
Vison for Self:
The verse from Proverbs 29:18 is often interpreted as “Where there is no vision, the people
perish.”2 This verse stresses the importance of receiving Godly communication or prophetic
vision from God. It focuses that without such direction, people lose their way and abandon God’s
commandments. Furthermore, Habakkuk 2: 2-3 states: “Write the vision, and make it plain upon
tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it
shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come it will not tarry.”3
This verse stresses that we should have a plan of action whenever doing God’s work.

3 Habakkuk 2: 2-3.
Therefore, my personal vision for integrating evangelism into every aspect of my life involves
seeking Godly advice and prophetic revelations from God. To fulfill this vision, I will need to
make explicit changes such as highlighting prayer and pursuing spiritual discernment in all parts
of my life. Accepting the role of a servant in evangelism will influence my future ministry by
stressing humility, compassion, and service to others.
To become more vocal and bolder in my witness, I will need to overcome my fears and
uncertainties by trusting on God’s strength and trusting in His guidance. Evangelism must
become an deliberate daily lifestyle by encompassing prayer, scripture study, and enthusiastically
looking for chances to share the Gospel with others.
Vision for My Family:
Regarding how this evangelism vision will affect my family, it will involve building
relationships based on faith and spreading the gospel within our community, city, county, state,
and the world. By living out our faith in a genuine and caring way as we share the message of
Jesus’ love through our activities and words, we can impact those around us positively. My
family will strive to be a light within our community by living out our beliefs at home, work, and
during recreational activities.
This will be accomplished through a daily lifestyle which includes family prayer, attendance of
church, Biblical studies, and active evangelism. We will focus first on our family, in order that
we might grow in our faith. My wife and I will stress the importance of family Spiritual time and
well as family time.
Mission Statement for My Family:
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!!!4
4 Joshua 24: 15.
The Medley family will serve God through service and fellowship. We will be a family who
dedicate our money, time, and talents to service to helping the lost reunite with God. Moreover,
we will be the lighthouse for this dark world who is lost in sin. We will only serve the only
Triune God. We believe that God is our Creator and thus we will work to preserve His creation.
We believe the only way we can do His Will is to stay in prayer, thus, we will practice family and
community prayer. We believe that the Bible as the errant Word of God, thus, we will practice
family and community Bible studies. We believe in worshipping God; thus, we will practice
private and public worship. Moreover, we will practice service evangelism to bring the Gospel to
the world.
Future Ministry Application:
When picturing my future ministry and calling as it relates to evangelism and multiplication, I
see myself actively engaging in the church as a pastor. My goal will be to develop people who
are true disciples who are zealous about increasing their faith and the Kingdom of God.
Evangelism will be at the core of my ministry, whether as a pastor, husband, father, counselor,
chaplain, or church member.A
To apply this vision into my daily lifestyle, I plan to start by including deliberate evangelistic
efforts into my everyday dealings. This includes sharing the Gospel with those around me and
being courageous in my witness. Additionally, my goal will be to mentor individuals who show
interest in evangelism and train them to become effective evangelist themselves.
Furthermore, I plan to contribute actively in community outreach programs and engage with
different groups within the community to spread the message of Jesus’ love. By establishing
events that focus on evangelism and discipleship, I hope to create a program for individuals to
grow in their faith and share it with others.
In summary, my future ministry will focus around developing a culture of evangelism by
equipping believers to be efficient witnesses wherever they are placed. This involves active
involvement in church planting initiatives and encouraging individuals who are eager to share
their faith enthusiastically.
Conclusion:
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is give unto Me in heaven and earth. Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and
of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have command you: and, lo,
I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.5 This Scripture says so much to me
as a minister and man. It is my call to action and therefore, I must get to action.
5 Matthew 28 18-20.
