Proposal Classical Argument Thesis/Outline Assignment
I. Introduction
A. Academic improvement is a trending topic that is a frequently debated topic
throughout the United States between teachers, parents, and educators. As time continues
to go on, the quality of America’s education will only get worse and dramatically affect
students’ education and knowledge in relation to various subjects. Without a serious
change, students will start to suffer long-term effects from a lack of proper education.
B. American students are severely lacking various crucial skills due to how poorly
America’s educational infrastructure is laid out. According to the National Assessment of
Educational Progress. “One study found that only 31 percent of fourth graders are
proficient in reading on the NAEP (National Assessment of Educational Progress) and by
eighth grade, this number is virtually the same. Thirty-Three Percent. ” (Vindis, 2012).
By knowing these facts, those in educational leadership need to take action on taking the
steps to better the education of current and prospective students.
C. Thesis: Through the expansion of resources and finances, higher wages for teachers,
and an inclusive yet comprehensive curriculum, the United States will begin to see drastic
academic improvement and success among its students in school.
II. Body Paragraph
A. Educational improvement can be completed through expanding resources and by
utilizing federal funding opportunities.
B. One of the many setbacks America faces within its educational system, is a lack of
materials, resources, and financial funding, in the book A Quality Approach to
School Funding, states, “Dollars must be at the start of every conversation
around equity. Funding is a central component to providing a high-quality education and
often leads to improved outcomes” (Baffour, Benner, Boser, & Martin, 2018).
C. By supplying additional finances for schooling, both students and educators will have
additional access to higher-quality materials, lesson plans, workbooks, and services that
