Is Technology Making People Lonelier or Increasing Their Social Status?
Thesis: Technology in this time and age is making people lonelier than happier in their social
lives.
I. First, technology can create social activity but not enough physical activity.
a. The more and more people use their electronic devices, they are limiting
themselves to doing sports or any activity besides the social media.
b. People can get lazy and rely on their phones or computers to have fun or engage
in a virtual activity; for example, sport video games can create a virtual reality
where you are playing from the comfort of your home rather than playing a sport
in outside.
c. As this proceeds, the more and more we play with our electronic devices and
become hooked to them, we become lazy and unproductive with our time as well.
II. Next, it does not really build real and strong relationships.
a. We get a different view of people online than meeting with them face to face.
b. Being in each other's presence is another great thing technology gives us, but
soon, we will start missing with each other's conversation, and will not be there
for them physically but emotionally.

c. This is an advantage for people who are with each other physically in a
relationship rather than online, so they can be there when they need support or etc.
III. Lastly, as people are using technology on a daily basis, it can lead them to isolate
themselves from the outside world and communication with others.
a. Teenagers and young adults get addicted when using technology, especially when
they are talking to friends and hundreds of other people on social media.
b. But even though they have hundreds of people to talk to online, they still feel
alone. It is because usually when they talk to others online, they tend to shut
people out who are willing to give them company. Thus, if they knew how to
balance their time, they would not feel alone a lot.
c. Balancing our time makes us feel alive and productive compared to those who use
their devices all the time and are isolating themselves from reality.
IV. In conclusion, the use of these technologies should be limited.
a. Technology can create social activities and virtual realities that will make you stay
in the comfort of your home instead of enjoying the great outdoors.
b. They will not create real and strong relationships.
c. The more people use their technological devices, they will isolate themselves
from the world.

Is Technology making people lonelier or increasing their social status?
In the modern world, technology is a necessity, as it connects us to people around the
world, and keeps us updated on events happening around the world. However, technology still
makes us feel alone. With more and more technological devices being made for us every year,
they keep us connected and in communication to others but does not give the same feeling as
when we talk to people face to face. People are reducing the importance of real conversations as
they are more comfortable talking to a computer screen instead of looking into someone’s eyes.
Technology in this time and age is making people lonelier than happier in their social live
because, we focus more on social and virtual realities, social relationships, and using technology
on a daily basis.
First, technology can create social activity but not enough physical activity. The more
people use their electronic devices, the more excluding their time to doing sports or any activity
besides social media. People can get lazy and rely on their phones or computers to have fun or
engage in a virtual activity; for example, sport video games can create a virtual reality where you
are playing from the comfort of your home rather than playing a sport outside. As this proceeds,

the more we play with our electronic devices and become addicted to them, the more we become
lazy and unproductive with our time as well.
Next, it does not build real and strong relationships. We get a different view of people
when we are meeting with them online, sometimes we cannot see their physical or real reaction
to a point in a conversation especially when you cannot see them digitally. Being in each other's
presence is another great thing technology gives us, but soon we will start missing each other's
conversation, and will not be there for them physically but emotionally. This is a disadvantage
for people who are with each other in an online relationship rather than a real relationship
because they do not have physical support for each other.
Lastly, as people are using technology on a daily basis, technology can lead them to
isolate themselves from the outside world and real communication with others. Teenagers and
young adults get addicted when using technology, especially when they are talking to friends and
hundreds of other people on social media. But even though they have hundreds of people to talk
to online, they still feel alone. It is because when they talk to others online, they tend to shut
people out who are willing to give them company. For example, if an individual needed to talk to
someone about his/her troubles and talked to someone online, it would not feel the same as
talking to someone physically. If they knew how to balance their time, they would not have to
feel alone. Balancing time makes an individual feel alive and productive compared to those who
use their devices all the time and are isolating themselves from reality.
In conclusion, the use of electronic devices should be limited. Technology can create
social activities and virtual realities that will make you stay in the comfort of your home instead
of enjoying the great outdoors. As people are so used to talking face to face on computer screen
or our cellular devices to talk to our friends or loved ones, they will not create real and strong

relationships. The more people use their technological devices, the more they will isolate
themselves from the world. People in this world will be isolated from each other and from
experiencing new things that may excite them.
