The essential elements of Space Coast University are academic achievement and community.
Space Coast University has significant ties to the local community. The university is proud of its
commitment to student success and its role as the community’s epicenter for superior education
and limitless learning. The University established Core Competencies. These Competencies and
their related indicators of achievement are strongly connected to the mission, goals, and
objectives of the institution and are addressed throughout all disciplines, degree programs, and
certificates. By concentrating on academic achievement and perpetual learning the College offers
students affordable high-quality education options that prepare them for success in a society that
continues to evolve. Philippians 4:13 serves as a reminder that all things can be accomplished
successfully if we seek God first. Whether it is an academic success or nailing a job interview, “ I
can do all things"through Him who"strengthens me..” (New American Standard
Bible,1971/1995).
To achieve its mission, Space Coast University delivers undergraduate degrees delivered in-
person, and online asynchronously and synchronously, vocational training programs, unique
initiatives tailored to meet community or statewide employment needs, last, activities and
workshops that foster personal development, wellness, cultural diversity, and sports.
Essential element 1 - Academic Success linked Core Competencies: The University’s Core
Competencies articulate the skills, expertise, and abilities that learners shall be expected to
develop throughout the course of their studies. Faculty training and development include the
New Instructors Advising Program, an organized initiative"exclusively for faculty members.
New faculty will be provided with the opportunity to work individually with faculty within their
discipline. The program’s objectives include assisting all faculty members in building
community and relationships on each campus, assisting new faculty members in acclimating to
the mission and culture of the college, as well as assisting faculty members with guidelines and
resources that meet curriculum and performance-based learning requirements linked to core
competencies.
Essential element 2- Community: Space Coast University is proud of its strong community
connections. Through SCU’s Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Center, students, faculty,
and staff assist local and regional community organizations. Community service enhances
learning, promotes civic literacy, and assists with supporting the needs of the community. The
Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Center works closely with faculty members across
