Topic The topic consisted of developing an evidence-based practice
(EBP) and clinical applicable educational competency
framework to meet education requirements for healthcare
curriculum.
Theories The theory is that well-developed competency frameworks can
help educators provide educational content to prepare students
for effective and efficient patient care.
Research Question What competency frameworks of Clinical Effectiveness
Education (CEE) currently exist? What are the competencies
aligned to clinical effectiveness? What new findings can guide
clinical effectiveness education in EBP, quality improvement
processes, implementation strategies, and collaborative practice?
How might it impact on clinical practice in the foreseeable
future?
Methodology Methodology is composed of two phases: a scoping review and
stakeholder consultation. The inclusion criteria for the scoping
review consisted of studies focused on competency frameworks
or curriculum development with a focus on clinical
effectiveness, EBP, quality improvement, and implementation.
Articles were excluded if focused on clinical efficacy for a
specific health condition, or speculative analyses of dissimilar
aspects of clinical efficacy, or encompassed narratives, letters,
discussions, or opinions.
The search was conducted on the EBSCO database, including
CINAHL, MEDLINE, Academic Search Complete,
PsycARTICLES, Psychology and Behavioral Science Collection
and ERIC. Articles that met the criteria was placed in EndNote
