Challenges and Possibilities for the Future of Educational Technology

Abstract
It is common for technology to be used in the classroom and on campus in education. It is
possible to perfect the technique if instruction is provided inside a school building. Technology
when used in education has been a positive development for educators. The use of instructional
technology requires a varying level of support, according to research. In primary, secondary,
and higher education schools today, technology is integrated. It has created challenges for
administrators, teachers, and students. Initially, we will examine the challenges educators face.
Within the next few years, schools will increasingly provide personalized instruction, including
these five trends. When students use software online when learning online, they need to be
monitored or observed. Safeguards are necessary so that institutions can be sure the safety of
their students is prioritized, especially when using third party tools.

Challenges and Possibilities for the Future of Educational Technology
It is common for technology to be used in the classroom and on campus in education. It
is possible to perfect the technique if instruction is provided inside a school building. Although
technology can be used to further educational goals, integrating it into instruction can be
difficult. challenges. The implementation of technology is very expensive both monetarily and
the time involved.
Current Landscape
Technology when used in education has been a positive development for educators. The
use of instructional technology requires a varying level of support, according to research.
Technology is becoming increasingly popular in the education field today, causing the landscape
to change (Runge, 2017). Education professionals are always given opportunities to improve
their teaching and learning strategies as part of their professional development training.
Additionally to professional development trainings in technology, educators have to learn on
their own time. Administrations provide support when new technology is introduced to the
classroom.
In order for technology to be beneficial to students, it must be used in a way that they
understand. Technology can only help students as long as they are able to use it and understand
it. Therefore, educating students about technology and feeling comfortable using it is imperative.
Technology implementation research found that there were "significant differences and positive
correlations between teachers' current computer training, comfort level, and computer usage in
the classroom as compared to their previous training, comfort level, and usage" (Alberola et al.,
2016).
It is not only expensive and time consuming to provide training every time a new technology is
introduced, but it also has some negative effects. To facilitate the delivery of instruction in the
classroom, technology must be utilized to engage students more effectively.

In order to ensure that technology works properly for the lesson planned on that day,
educators must always take students into account when planning for instruction. Several
significant trends in educational technology have emerged in recent years. In 2021, four major
trends are predicted to drive the future: sensing and mobility, communications, digital
ecosystems, and artificial intelligence.
Recent Developments
Kimmons (2020) states that technological advancements are not the focus; it's the focus
on learning. It is not about how technology is used; it is about how it is used in the classroom.
Advancements using technology in an education setting are proposed in this section, since the
adoption of technology in classrooms has required educators to alter their instruction.
Current Issues Facing the Field
In primary, secondary, and higher education schools today, technology is integrated. It
has created challenges for administrators, teachers, and students. Initially, we will examine the
challenges educators face. According to research, Many efforts have been made on the teaching
of the skills of handling tools (Schrum, 2018) to assist teachers in using technology. Admin
staff should ensure all of their staff including support staff are able to use and understand the
technology that is being provided.
In the educational field, time is big factor in being able to learn a new technical tool. We spend
time off trying to learn every new tool that is considered. Many educators work after hours or
even take materials home to learn technology on their own. To assist educators, professional
development can take many forms. Professional development sessions can be at any time and
online would convenient for staff.
In order for students to understand technology, it is necessary to introduce it to them and
teach them how to use it. Using it can be used to implement lessons once the teacher and students
are comfortable with it. Students participate in the technology discussion.

Emerging Trends in K12 from a Global Perspective
According to Runge (2017) several emerging trends in education, including sensory and
mobility augmented humans, postclassical computing, and digital ecosystems. Through sensing
and mobility, students can manipulate the objects around them in this year's learning trends. The
future will bring immersive workspaces and biotech experiences thanks to augmented human
technology, which will include drones and cameras.
Within the next few years, schools will increasingly provide personalized instruction,
including these five trends. According to Schrum, "personalized learning for students has been
around for a while, gained popularity, and is now being used in project-based learning." Schrum
argues in general that teachers should have the ability to learn in a way that benefits their
individual needs. The goal of personalized learning is to allow students to learn in a way that
they can comprehend.
Professional development should be accessible to teachers whenever the need arises.
Personalized learning allows educators the ability to have a say in what’s important to them that
will improve their job function. In addition, it should be offered in several formats, including
one-on-one, small groups, and in person.@
Future Directions in Education
It is expected that technology will change education in the next 15 or 20 years, as outlined in the
Horizon report. "Artificial Intelligence: Technology Implications, Next-Generation Digital
Learning Environment, Analytics, and Privacy Issues." is among the topics covered in the these
reports.
In education, artificial intelligence is used to plan lessons. Teachers would be afforded the
ability to communicate with students and provide feedback even if they are not present. Online
learning will even provide students with a variety of customized learning formats with the use of
artificial intelligence.

In the next five to ten years, educators and students will be able to use Next-Generation Digital
Learning Environments (NGDLEs) in order to deliver instruction online or outside the
classroom. The LMS system includes Blackboard and Canvas. Teachers predict that education
will be delivered more effectively in the next fifteen to twenty years. There will be a lot of online
activity.
A big trend in higher education will be analytics and privacy concerns. Following these
trends protects the information of students.
Safeguards
When students use software online when learning online, they need to be monitored or
observed. Safeguards are necessary so that institutions can be sure the safety of their students is
prioritized , especially when using third party tools. Having safeguards in place for students and
staff is essential for institutions, as they protect students' personal information, prevent them
from being harmed by predators, and prevent them from viewing illegal material. In addition to
monitoring cyberbullying, safeguards can help protect students from it as well.
It has been my experience during this academic year to see how safeguards are
implemented and how they work. As a adjunct university professor, all of my are students
virtual, which means lectures are live on zoom and recorded. Discussion are posted on our LMS
Canvas. All of the students have a minimum of two replies. The zoom meetings are locked and
professors must let the students in. The recordings are password protected.
Samuel is my inspiration pondering safeguards. Samuel 22:23 KJV says, "Abide thou
with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in
safeguard." (King James Bible, 2017). Samuel proclaims that the in scripture, God assures us
that he will protect us, and that angels will watch over us. The school ensures that its students are
protected, especially when technology is implemented. Technology is a powerful tool, safeguards
must be used to protect all that utilize it.
