Biblical Worldview
The decisions a person makes today affects all his tomorrows. Decisions are something
that is done on a daily basis, thousands of times a day. A person’s thoughts and values are
stemmed from his or her worldview and in turn affect the decisions that they make. What is a
biblical worldview? A worldview is not viewing the world through the physical, but it is the
philosophical view that shapes the ‘who’ of who we are.
Biblical Worldview
A person’s worldview is made up of many factors. The many factors that help develop
our worldview can be from our ethnicity, our culture, family, friends, media, society, and our
own individual personality. How we were raised to think about God, others, education, authority
affects us in how we view the world around us. A biblical worldview is seeing the world through
the filter of lenses of God’s word, the Bible. The bible is the ruler in which we use to guide our
decisions, and what we base our values on. When we have the bible as our guide, we should be
the mirror of what God has revealed to us through His word. The heart of a person is what
dictates the outward actions of someone. “Understanding God’s design for our world and
building a biblical system of beliefs (worldview) will result in more meaning, purpose, and
fulfillment in life.” (Pope, 2007). Having a biblical worldview helps in making those all-
important decisions, the decisions that affect the way our future transpires. When we know the
bible and believe in the promises of God, we can be assured that all through life is not promised
to be easy, we can have faith that we are aligning our decisions on what is right and good. Our
thought process needs to be on how our decisions will not only affect our future but how will
this affect my character, how others will perceive us (Knight, 2006). Having a biblical
worldview in the way we lead others can be challenging at times. But in order to keep God in the
center of our

leadership we need to “align their conduct and conversation with their faith.” (Blackaby &
Blackaby, 2011).
Christian Philosophy of Education
Education is the transmission of knowledge. How we define what we think truth is
becomes important. “Knowledge may be defined as an understanding or a clear perception of
truth. The biblical view of knowledge presupposes a source of all knowledge, for knowledge is
dependent on truth; and truth in turn, is dependent on God” (Cates, 2005). All knowledge is from
God. Without having a biblical worldview, it is difficult to understand the metaphysical aspects
of a Christian philosophy. Without knowing the true meaning of life, one cannot teach a biblical
worldview to their students. Jesus came to the world teach us how to live. In I Corinthians 8:9
(ESV) “But you must see to it that this right of yours does not become a stumbling block for
those who are weak.” We must impart the values that make up our Christian beliefs. In school,
teachers are the models from whom the students look up to for their instruction. Having the
mindset of Christ, we can teach in a manner that is biblical. As young children our worldviews
are taking form from our family. Ove the course of time philosophies of education has taken
different forms, but they all have the same outcome of wanting the educate our children.
Proverbs 1:7 (ESV) states, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, fools despise
wisdom an instruction.”
Implications for Educational Practice
Having a biblical philosophy of education should bd the foundation of all that we teach.
As educators, we should be intentional in how we teach and what we teach. God gave us the
roadmap to help us, guide us through our questions and search for truth. As a special education
teacher, I see students of varying abilities. With these students it’s important to teach them that

they have worth, and that they can achieve. God did not make us all the same. He gave some
more abilities than others and some with deficits that we don’t understand why. A leader has a
unique style of leadership. Some are more demanding and more assertive while some are more
open and want to be more involved (Northouse, 2021). As a teacher, we are in a leadership
position. It is so important to show our students that there is so much more than what they can
do. Too many times and definitely too soon decision are made, and students choose to do things
that cut their life short. As of this morning, the news that one of my students was shot to death,
brought heartache but also determination that I will continue to teach with a biblical worldview.
Sometimes it’s harder to teach that way in a public school. The most important message to teach
is that each one of our students is special and that they know that they can trust and respect us in
our decisions that we make on a daily basis.
Conclusion
A person’s worldview colors the world that they live in. We gather our truths and our
values from our families, the teachings that have been taught to us, and our culture. Our
worldview should come from the only source of truth and that is from our Lord and Savior Jesus
Christ. Our decisions that we make need to have the principles of the bible to guide us so that we
can make decisions in our life that can bring us peace and joy. Real joy comes from knowing
God and that we have an eternal home with Him.
