SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY and the belief that all
students can learn
I show social responsibility in my classroom by providing numerous ways in which my students
can learn. Being aware that all children learn in different ways. Another way I show social
responsibility is by correcting with compassion. Praise also important but correction must
occur. Correcting actions with compassion is a must for my students to continue to be active
learners in the classroom. I am also aware of the special needs of my classroom and have several
students that need help. I have a child with numerous disorders, and he is very active. I make
changes to the curriculum so that he can do activities on his own, it is important to him to learn
to "all by myself." I also try to not make it so obvious that he is getting extra help so that the
other students don't get upset with the extra time I am spending with him. I have begun to have a
student helper with him, and we change the helper every day. The children seem to enjoy
helping and he likes not having a teacher all the time to help him.

WORK ETHIC
I show commitment by being diligent in my studies, teaching and kingdom work. I strive to be
on time for every situation and prepared for the day whether I am teaching, doing school work,
worship team, or even leading my life group (Bible study). If I am not prepared for these
activities, how can I expect my students to be prepared for class. Being prepared every day for
my activities shows that I value the people and students I work with. Bringing value to others is a
must for the life I lead because it shows that I want to be like Jesus and give purpose and value to
everyone. I also discuss with my fellow teachers about our students and how they are progressing
in their studies. I want to make sure that we are developing them into life-long learners with a
love for learning that will last. I make sure that my lessons are fun while being instructional.
REFLECTION
I show my reflective practice in weekly meetings with my co-teacher by discussing what worked
during the week and what didn’t. We collectively decide on what the activities will be the
following week of class. I am willing to change things and listen to ideas and implement them in
the classroom. Once a month, we have a teacher meeting with all the teachers at the school. We
go over the topics to be taught for the following month and plan out centers for each activity. We
come up with adaptions for our special needs children and assign duties to get these activities
together. As a school, we participate in continuing education classes that focus on our preschool
setting. We often collaborate with the local public school so that our students are ready to go the
kindergarten. Knowing what the kindergarten classes are looking for helps us in preparing our
students for a successful transition to kindergarten.
INTEGRITY
I show integrity by not asking anyone to perform a task that I am not willing to do myself. I
value my co-teacher, I value my friends, I value my pastor and church. I make sure that their
time is not wasted on me in any way. I am prepared with lesson plans for the following week on
the Friday before, I take time to listen to friends when they need listened to, I study my notes
from the sermon so that I may grow, and my pastor’s words are not just words. It is important to
be honest in every part of my life, to live my life every day as a kingdom woman in and out of
the classroom. My actions and attitudes matter to my school, my church, my student’s parents,
and my family. I never want to lose their trust in me as a teacher, friend, leader or mentor.
PROFESSIONALISM in behavior and actions
I believe that professionalism is shown through all of the other SCRIP dispositions. Achieving
them sets your example for professionalism. Being on time; respecting your boss and co-
workers; taking correction with grace; implementing change when needed; being a good listener;
being compassionate in all aspects of your life and living every day as a kingdom woman
encompasses all that I know professionalism to be. Other ways to show my professionalism are
to be prepared for class before class begins so that my students can have a calm and chaos free
day. No matter how I feel I never show my feelings in the classroom. That is why I also feel it is
important to be well rested before each day begins. Being at my best for my students is necessary
for showing my professionalism.
