1) When given a writing prompt, students will be 90% (9/10) accurate
in choosing the appropriate writing form (narrative, expository,
persuasive, or informational) and identifying their target audience.
2) Using a graphic organizer, students will create and arrange their
thoughts into a coherent outline,?establishing a thesis statement and
supporting details. They will need to achieve 85% (8.5/10) accuracy.
3) Students will identify between a thesis statement and a topic
sentence in a revised draft, organizing details for understanding and
flow with 90% accuracy (9/10) so there is coherence and unity.

(a) Activity for Audience Identification: Students will be given several
writing prompts and asked to determine who each one is meant for.
They will argue for their choice and discuss how it influences their
writing style. (Supports A)
(b) Prewriting Graphic Organizer: Before beginning a writing
assignment, students will use a graphic organizer to form ideas, create
a thesis statement, and arrange evidence to support it. Identifying the
main ideas that they will expand upon in the body of their writing is a
part of this. (Supports B)
(c) Peer Review of Thesis and Topic Sentences: Students will share
drafts with their classmates and provide them feedback on whether the
main idea is clearly shown?in the thesis statement and topic sentences,
as well as whether the supporting materials are arranged logically.

one expository, one persuasive, and one informational essay that
demonstrates their 85% accuracy (8.5/10) in audience identification,

(b) Research and Interview Essay: Using at least two quotes from
interviews to support their argument, students will write an informative
essay on a subject of their choosing. Students will achieve 90%
accuracy (9/10) by structuring their writing for clarity and use
audience-appropriate vocabulary.
(c) Argumentative Essay: Students will write an essay that argues for a
current issue or event. With 90% accuracy (9/10), the essay will have a
clear thesis, supporting details, and appropriate structure.

1) Students will use feedback to improve their writing after receiving a
peer-reviewed draft, with 85% correctness (8.5/10) in terms of
organization, clarity, word choice, and sentence structure.
2) In order to show that they know the standards, students will edit a
writing draft for grammar, punctuation, and spelling mistakes with at
least 90% correctness (9/10).
3) With 90% accuracy (9/10), students will use a provided prompt to
write an organized paragraph that explains the main idea in detail and
includes the necessary transitions and supporting parts.

(a) Peer Editing Activity: Using a rubric, students will evaluate each
other's drafts for grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. They

checklist. After that, they will consider how their changes improved the
work. (Supports C)
(c) Grammar and Standards Quiz: Students will complete a short test
covering sentence structure, grammar, and punctuation. Their ability to
edit for frequent errors and revise for clarity with 90% accuracy (9/10)
will be tested in the quiz. (Supports B)

explaining how they improved their writing for clarity and impact
using teacher and peer input, earning 90% accuracy (9/10).
(c) Timed Writing Exercise: During one class session, students will
write an organized paragraph in response to a prompt.
Using?supporting information and?easy?transitions, the paragraph will
show that they can 90% accurately (9/10) develop the main idea.
