1) Given a real life scenario, the student will use addition and subtraction to
estimate problems about their shopping trip with 13/15 problems correct.
2) Given a test with open-ended questions, the students will estimate and
calculate problems with 17/20 problems correct
3) Given a budget assignment, the student will dertimine the sums of whole
numbers and estimate to correctly answer questions and design a correct budget
with 85% accuracy.

(a) Day 1 – Quick Estimation Challenge: I will prepare a set of simple addition
and subtraction problems and have students give me an estimation answer before
truly solving it. This will allow me to see where students are in their
understanding of estimation.
(b) Day 9 – Students are given a list of word problems that consist of multi-step
problems that require critical thinking skills.
(c) Day 19 – Math Stations: Students will pariticipate in hands-on math
activities that include estimation and dertermining the sum and differences of
whole numbers up to 9,999. The stations will consist of solo activities, duets,
and group work.

Objectives
(a) Day 8 – Students will be given a real life scenario that requires them to plan
using estimation and addition and subtraction. They will be given a budget in the
scenario and must use estimation, addition, and subtraction to figure out their
money for a shopping trip.
(b) Day 17 – Students will be given a test with a set of open-ended questions
that are related to estimating and calculating the differences and sums of whole
numbers. Students will be required to provide solutions, use different strategies,
and justify their reasoning for their answers and strategies used.
(c) Day 28 – Budget Assignment: Students will use their knowledge of
estimation and determining the sums and difference of whole numbers for
3
determining a budget for a class field trip.

3.4 The student will
a) represent multiplication and division through 10 × 10, using a variety of
approaches and models;
b) create and solve single-step practical problems that involve multiplication
and division through 10 x 10; and
c) demonstrate fluency with multiplication facts of 0, 1, 2, 5, and 10; and
d) solve single-step practical problems involving multiplication of whole
numbers, where one factor is 99 or less and the second factor is 5 or less.

1) Given a set of flashcards, the students will answer multiplication and division
problems up to 10 x 10 with 8/10 cards answered correctly.
2) Given a test with multiplication and division problems, the student will use
their understanding to answer the problems with 22/25 correct.
3) Given a chosen topic, the student will create and present a math game
showing complete understanding of multiplication and division solutions with
90% accuracy.

(a) Day 1 - Multiplication and Division Fact Quiz: I will create a set of questions
that are centered around the multiplication facts of 0, 1, 2, 5, and 10.
(b) Day 12 – The Math Challenge: Students will create flashcards with
multiplication and division facts up to 10 x 10. Students will work in groups or
small pairs and review their flashcards with eachother. I will have them come to
me once a time and quiz them on their flashcards to see how many that they can
get right.
(c) Day 23 - Math Inventors: Students will choose a topic related to
multiplication and division and design their own math game to go along with it.
Students will choose topics such as multiplying and dividing through 10 x 10,
practicing factors, or solving single step word problems.

challenges that require them to solve problems using multiplication and division
problems. They will complete these challenges in teams and I will score their
overall accura accuracy and fluency.
(b) Day 22 – Math Champions: After students finish studying their flashcards, I
will assess their understanding. Students will be given a test with 25 problems.
The test will consist of multiplication and division problems and I will grade
students based on their accuracy.
(c) Day 35 - Math Gamers: Students will present their games to their class. They
will present to their class the objections of the game and demonstrate how it is
played. The games will be showcased over the room and the students will be
required to do a presentation of their game and their understanding of the
multiplication and division skills. Once all have been presented we will follow
with a class discussion.
