Abstract
A Philosophy of Education is the systematic process of understanding and explicating
key concepts related to educational practice. The Philosophy of Education proceeds toward
different duties and has diverse ways to practice or describe the education concepts. While in
college I learned that Philosophy of Education was particularly important, and we had to create
our own. Learning that we have different teaching methods, which means teachers will not teach
or have the same perspective as others. Younger generations of teachers teach a lot differently
from the seasoned teachers. Many things have changed over the years where seasoned teachers
did not have the technology or modern teaching that is present now. I am a firm believer in no
child leave behind, all children can adapt to distinct types of teaching methods.
Introduction
Philosophy of Education branch of applied philosophy that investigates education's
nature and its aims and problems. Teachers' philosophy will be different from everyone else
because there is no teacher that thinks exactly alike. Teachers have different approaches on
teaching education. Once I created my own Philosophy of Education, I realized it was not an
easy task. I strongly believe that teachers can make a difference in students' lives by showing
them love and support. Being an educator is not easy by any means, but we are here to better the
lives of each student we encounter. When teachers can be educators and not just be focused on
test score, state standards, and perfect teaching. It helps when the staff can communicate with the
administration team to create a great learning environment.
Philosophy of Schools & Learning
In Chapters 15-17, Perennialism and Education, Progressivism and Education, and Social
Reconstructionism and Education. (Gutek, 2021) Perennialism and Education is not a teacher
centered classroom nor is it based on student’s interest or student's adventure. Progressivism and
Education is where students interest is based on them that brings positives environment.
Reconstructionism and Education is where social questions can be asked about. Making sure that
students have a safe environment that includes engaging the students will encourage students and
teachers to communicate as well as feel comfortable. It is important to create a safe environment
that also encourages students to attend school because relationships have been built.
Instructional Practice
Instructional practice gives the students the opportunity to engage in lessons during the
whole group time to enact with other students. Instructional time gives students the opportunity
to give feedback and ask questions about the lessons being taught. Teachers should have an open
floor where students can get a clear understanding of what they are learning. Letting students
work and engage with their peers will build relationships and students will be able to listen to
each other's ideas and thoughts.
Teacher-Learner Relationships
A teacher-learner relationship comes with an open relationship between the teacher and
learner. Building relationships is key with teachers and students because it creates a wonderful
atmosphere. Building any type of rapport with students will go a long way because students will
easily engage with the teachers more. I have learned if a teacher is not willing to build a
relationship with the students there will be less respect. Graining the relationships between
students and teachers is a thing that will be cherished. Also, this will keep the academics up
because students will feel comfortable with communicating with their teachers.
Diversity
With diversity we as teachers must respect all cultures that enter our classroom. Always
surround lesson plans around the cultures, ages, and race inside the classroom. Students learning
about each other's cultures will teach students how to respect each other. In my classroom there
will be diverse cultures, ages, and races on posters, books, and included in lesson plans. Students
want to walk in a classroom and see things that look like them and even talk like them. Teacher's
students what they will be faced with in the outside world will prepare students on how to react.
Implemeting diversity will go a long way for the teachers and students to keep everyone safe and
comfortable.
Conclusion
A Philosophy Education is something that every teacher needs to create. I am going to
love beginning a teacher to support students and help them achieve their educational goals.
Teachers are what students need to learn about their future and how to respect each other.
Learning comes easy when the environment is safe and comfortable. Creating effective lesson
plans will push students to meet their academic goals and be engaged. I always keep in mind no
child will be left behind.
