Explanation for Chosen Disciplines
When it came down to picking disciplines for the last spiritual growth plan, I
decided to focus on some areas I already had. I selected prayer, journaling, and
worship because they are disciplines that I believe are staples to having a strong walk
with Christ. Because of this I want to challenge myself more than I had in the past. I
challenged myself to at least pray three times a day for 15 minutes. I will be making
time for prayer and leaving the office. I have learned from the past that even when I
set time for myself and get away, if I am still in the office I am easily distracted. I will
intentionally make time for God in hopes that my relationship with Him will grow.
Journaling is something that I believe is taken for granted and that is why I selected
this discipline again. I hope to be able to read over my journal entries after the two
weeks and see what God has been showing me during my time of prayer and worship.
Self Evaluation
When it comes to evaluating how I did the past two weeks I would say that I did
terrible. When it came down to fasting I was not able to fully break away from social
networking and truly focus on God. This is something that scares me and is
something that I will be spending a lot of time and prayer on during the next couple
weeks. I need to be able to shut of me self and focus on God but instead I get
constantly sucked in to Twitter and what is going on in the world at that vary moment.
When it comes to scripture reading I would say that I did an excellent job with
reading what I said I would, but I did an ok job at actually retaining anything.
Because I was so constantly distracted this bled over in to other areas and distracted
me during my scripture reading and memorization time. My prayer is that over the
next two weeks I will spark something that will continue on after this course.
